Moonlighting is the title track from the Rippingtons debut recording Moonlighting. This is a mid 80's smooth jazz-pop chart with a bit of an edge, especially in the harmonies. Solo changes are in the alto sax 1, tenor sax 1, trumpet 2 and trombone 1. Since Russ Freeman (the composer of this work) is a master guitarist, a screamin' guitar solo would be totally appropriate! The keyboard can be played on a standard piano, or to make it more 80's, a DX7 style tine piano would work as well. Ok - this one is just plain fun. Originally released on Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic and later remade adding Run DMC, Walk This Way is a bonafide rock and roll classic. This arrangement is to be played with all the Aerosmith swagger possible with a big band. Solo section is open with changes in AS1, TS1, Tpt2 & Tbn1. Obviously, a screamin' guitar solo would be totally appropriate. The key signature is neutral, with accidentals placed as needed. This chart will give any jazz band concert some serious attitude!

After creating a perfectly servicable big band arrangement of No Time To Die, I did what any good arranger of a big band would do and asked myself, How would Maynard Ferguson play this? The answer is, of course, louder, faster, and higher, or otherwise stated, obnoxiously. Such was born this unique version of this piece, with screaming trumpet parts, but a trombone soloing the first verse and then taking an extended improvisional solo throughout the middle (because as the lead trombone player of the band, I opted to give it to myself). I, personally, like this version better than the one that mimics the original, and give a little Bond pep to the midst to your setlist. Enjoy No Time To Die, as performed (obnoxiously) by the T-Town Jazz Band.
