Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1349823 By Rachel Zegler And The Covey Band. By Dave Cobb and Suzanne Collins. Arranged by Javier Soria Laso. Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 57 pages. Javier Soria Laso #934588. Published by Javier Soria Laso (A0.1349823). You've heard Nothing You Can Take From Me from the film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes (sung by Rachel Zegler) many times, but you'll be gladly astounded to hear this big band chart that puts a spin into it with great measure! After a maestoso rendition of the first verse by the brass section, the drums set up the tempo into a tour de force medium fast tempo tune influenced by Duke Jordan's Jordu (recorded by the Clifford Brown-Max Roach Quintet) & Bobby Timmons's Moanin' (recorded by Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers) that while retaining much of the original tune (verse, refrain & bridge) brings out a distinctive hard bop-influenced twist coupled with solos by tenor sax & drums as well as a powerful soli by the trumpet section and a shout chorus moment by the full band. This chart is perfect as a concert opener, anchorer or closer, and it's another good twist of the saying something old, something new in a refreshing way. Enjoy! This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1273503 Composed by Tchaikovsky, Peter. Arranged by Thingvall, Jon. Film/TV,Jazz. Score and Parts. 88 pages. Jon Thingvall #865640. Published by Jon Thingvall (A0.1273503). Briar Rose was the name of an early version of Sleeping Beauty.  Here, Tchaikovsky’s famous Sleeping Beauty Waltz is perked up a little, and re-imagined for a standard junior high/early high school, jazz big band (5,4,4), and played in 4/4 time.Difficulty:  junior high to early high school band.Designed to help students learn jazz.Key:  F (original ballet key is B-flat)Highest lead trumpet note: concert E (last note), in the treble clef. There are no solos.  Exposed parts have at least two players. The rhythms swing, but are kept predictable, without too much variety.Rhythm section play-along here:  https://youtu.be/rhlifLTzHC8Additional Parts Included:                Score, transposed                Score, concert pitch                Piano/Guitar showing Bass in L.H.                Piano/Guitar only, no Bass                Piano with jazz ideas/options written out                Drum set notation                Drum set kicksheetMeasure 71 (at approx. 1:51) could serve as an Optional Ending, and the director will be able to edit the measure as desired—beef up the “& of two†if desired, and/or add horns on beat 4, etc.  If done in class, as my teachers occasionally did, it can show the students the process of arranging, and might encourage some in that direction. As a classical-turned-jazz pianist, my best memories are of those who helped me bridge the gap from verbatim part-playing to the concepts of learning jazz harmonies and its own unique form of counterpoint.  Writers' suggestions--like Sammy Nestico's, who occasionally specified voicings--were invaluable.  So, for classically-trained pianists who are interested in jazz, I’ve included a couple versions of the piano part—a fairly standard “lead sheetâ€, but also one with ideas for voicings, especially quartal, which the classical artist might not have considered.  Further study on YouTube and other Internet sites will help them hear and visualize the difference between jazz and classical. The Bass part gives the student the option of playing the changes, or the written notes.I’ve also included two kinds of drum parts—one with notation for those just starting out, and another “kick sheet†for those with more experience.Manuscript made with Finale v26Sounds from Finale and Garritan “JABB3†(Jazz And Big Band)MP3 courtesy of OnlineAudioConverter.com.

Holyone Tombari Dodoh #129341. Published by Holyone Tombari Dodoh (A0.518631). The broken hearted. Lyrics performed by an Open Source Virtual Singer Software (bot). Score and parts included. Lyrics No, no, no, no, no! Can't hide it anymore, She's happy but I'm hurt, I want to be her joy; She said I'm so annoy'ng, Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! She has no hope in me making it big, She saw no future in me becoming rich, She chose luxury over me; Baby I'm so sorry! She saw no happiness with me so soon, She chose money over me Because I was broke; We ate together, We laughed together; We loved each other: She said she love me I am everything to her, She said I meant the world and the life in her, But she chose luxury over me, Baby I'm so sorry! Luxury so sweet; the life she feels I cannot give, She chose money over me Because I was broke; I was out in the colds Just to gist with you, I know my failures Made me look senseless And my path rejections Made me look worthless; I buried my labour just to make you so happy And sweet smile on your face gave me joy and hope on my dreams I will never forget you, I will always remember, For the memory of you Had consumed my thoughts, Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! I thought I was the one for you all this while, I hope your luxury will love and care for you More than the way I would love and care for you, Because I thought my little love was just enough She chose money over me Because I was broke; No, no, no, no, no! Can't hide it any more, She's happy but I'm hurt, I want to be her joy; She said I'm so annoy'ng, Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! My dreams of promises to her is gone with her For it never became a reality, I told her to never leave me. She said I'm giving her tough times. I called her my Belov'd the one in whom I am well pleased, I told her it will be all right for one day we Will make it to the top of the World together, But she never believed me Because I was broke; She started feeling bored for texting and chatting with me; She started laying False accusations against me; I denied pleasure and Distance just to be with her And made her so happy But she could not do same for me, Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! She suspects me for what I do not know, I had to let it go For her to be happy Because that's what she wants! Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! It's hard to say the word Because I was broke; Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry! Baby I'm so sorry!

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1389644 By Grover Washington Jr. By Grover Washington Jr. Arranged by Mike Michalicek and Gerald Ramsey. Jazz,Soul. 60 pages. Gerald Ramsey #973223. Published by Gerald Ramsey (A0.1389644). Grover Washington, Jr., recorded this composition on his Winelight album with a stellar rhythm section of Richard Tee, Rhodes piano; Eric Gale, guitar; Marcus Miller, bass; Steve Gadd, drums; and Ralph MacDonald, percussion. Despite the subtitle, this piece is not a samba, but rather a soulful solo vehicle for Grover and members of the rhythm section. This arrangement is written flexibly so that it could be performed by a full big band, by solo alto sax with rhythm section, or by big band with a featured alto soloist. The arrangement can be opened up for multiple soloists. Young soloists can improvise very effectively using a g minor blues scale, although the piece is not a blues. More advanced players can use the provided sheets with the chord changes transposed for each instrument. The MIDI-rendered recording provides an adequate representation of this arrangement, but check out Groverâ??s recording on the streaming platform of your choice for an outstanding model to emulate.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1439369 By Queen. By Freddie Mercury. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop,Rock. 51 pages. John Ivor Holland #1019377. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1439369). Don't Stop Me Now is a song by the British rock band Queen, written by frontman Freddie Mercury, featured on their 1978 album 'Jazz' and released as a single on 26 January 1979. Featuring in films, commercials, and television shows, the song has grown in popularity in the decades since its release. Bobby Olivier of Billboard attributes its initial rebirth to its appearance in the 2004 cult classic zombie apocalypse film 'Shaun of the Dead' and in 2014, Rolling Stone readers voted it their third-favourite song by Queen. The single reached number 9 in the UK charts but only number 86 in the US; despite this, the song has grown in stature with time and has been popularised not only by consistent airplay, but by its use in advertisements, television programmes and films, and through cover versions. Have a good time with your band and vocalist in this authentic treatment, featuring solo for your star tenor sax player.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1308790 Composed by Charles Tenet. Arranged by Tobi Crawford. Jazz. Set of parts. 10 pages. Tobi Crawford #898036. Published by Tobi Crawford (A0.1308790). *THIS ACCOMPANIES THE VOCAL ARRANGEMENT* This arrangement came to me over a number of weeks in a very organic way that began with the ostinato piano figure that prevails throughout the piece. I began playing it unattached to any tune and I just liked the way the line descended in the left hand and how I had to find voicings in the right hand that made harmonic sense – like a puzzle. As I was playing around with this puzzle, thoughts of my father were swirling around in my head – I was at the end of a 4 year period of separation from my parents owing to the fact that I’m a Canadian expat living in the US and the borders were closed for a long time because of Covid, and then I had work visa issues and my parents were getting older before my eyes. They were also losing friends to cancer and other ailments and my dad, in particular, had experienced the loss of many close family members and friends during our separation and it was taking a toll. One day I sat down and played the now familiar-to-me ostinato but randomly I started to sing “Beyond the Sea†over it and it fit perfectly. I thought it a happy coincidence. As the days went on I committed to putting my ostinato with Beyond the Sea and the lyrics started to seep into my brain. I have, of course, heard these lyrics many times before, (who hasn’t seen Finding Nemo?) but the lyrics didn’t mean what I thought they meant… They’re NOT about the ocean, they are about my dad!!! Well, kind of… I realized, through careful reflection and by slowing the words down, that the lyrics are talking about a person in heaven who is patiently waiting for their partner to join them. Somewhere beyond the seaShe’s there watching for me…It’s far beyond the starsIt’s near beyond the moon And the lyrics end with them meeting, “We’ll meet beyond the shore, we’ll kiss just like before,†and the song ends with: “and never again I’ll go sailing.†It’s like the big bang went off in my head about why all these thoughts of my dad, and his friends, and this arrangement, and what it all meant suddenly just MADE SENSE and I was able to start formulating a plan. Performance Suggestions: The improvisation solo in the middle should be free of any traditional “scat syllables†and should be more of a lament. Listen to singers like Aubrey Johnson improvise on ballads for inspiration. An idea for that improv section might be to have a male singer start the improv, then a female singer joins (as if together in heaven) then they sing letter F together (warning: will cause tears…). All solo sections do not have to be sung as written – soloists can take liberties with the melody as the spirit moves.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1472109 By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by Mike Dana. Jazz,Latin,Pop. 66 pages. Mike Dana Music #1049808. Published by Mike Dana Music (A0.1472109). About the piece: Welcome to the second chart I’ve done on a Beatles tune! I guess, because the first one (Can’t Buy Me Love) went so well, I had to keep it going ? (shameless plug alert: CBML is available from both sheetmusicdirect.com and sheetmusicplus.com.) And I Love Her is a great tune, and I tried to find some creative ways to expand on that. It features your most lyrical flugel player, and you’ll need woodwind doubles: 2 flutes, 2 clarinets, and bass clarinet.  Ensemble: This is pretty straightforward: even 8th, bossa-ish vibe. Trumpets 1, 3, and 4 are on flugels full-time, except for the harmon trumpet bit in mm. 70-75. I feel the 5/4 bars as 2+3, and would conduct accordingly. Overall, think mellow, understated, warm/fuzzy on this.  Rhythm Section: I really hear nylon string guitar on this, so please ask your guitarist to bring the extra axe. ?  Piano, guitar, and bass: If there’s a notated paty without chord symbols, please play as written. If it’s chord symbols only, play/comp tastefully, as always. If there are both, you can do either. If the written part supports the ensemble, I’d suggest going that route. I LOVE having guitar and vibes in the rhythm section, but in general I’m not a big fan of having them play off of the same part. So, please observe the “play only if no guitar (or vibes etc.) indications. Drums, I’ve indicated some basic grooves (note the feel change in the bridge) but I trust you. Just keep things tasty and understated. Solo Section: Flugel solo…after the first read-through, you’ll know when it’s just you on the melody, and when your part is doubled. Feel free to play more expressively on the former. There are some short snippets of changes mixed in with the melodic statements; think of these more like fills than the official “solo section” which is mm. 50-80, the AAB of the form. Don’t swing for the fences in spots like mm. 44-48; instead, float on top of the ensemble sound. And, keep things simple from n. 91 out. ? As of this writing, I don’t have a recording of this, other than the MIDI demo. If you end up with a nice recording and would be OK sharing that with me, please reach out!
