This is a transcription of the Glenn Miller/Jerry Gray arrangement that became a No.1 hit for the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1940. The sax section features 3 altos and 2 tenors, as originally recorded by Miller, but the 3rd alto could be played on baritone sax if the double isn't available. Brass ranges are moderate (1st Trumpet requires C6 and 1st Trombone A4, albeit only once) and the trumpet solos orginally performed by Clyde Hurley and R.D. This arrangement, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas Is one of the arrangements I did for the Glenn Miller “In the Christmas Mood� recordings. True to the “Miller Sound,� the sax section is configured like the original band and is voiced from the top (clarinet) down in close position with the 2nd tenor doubling the clarinet melody an octave below. Alto 1 plays lead clarinet. Alto 2 plays the 1st Alto part Tenor 1 stays on tenor Tenor 2 stays on tenor doubling the clarinet melody exactly down an octave Baritone plays the 2nd Alto part The original recording featured a female vocal but it can be replaced by any solo instrument. Bb, Eb, & bass clef solo parts are included.

Twilight Time is a popular song with lyrics by Buck Ram and music by the Three Suns (Morty Nevins, Al Nevins, and Artie Dunn). This arrangement is an accurate transcription of the Ray Anthony Orchestra recording. The 2 clarinet-2 tenor sax style is that used by The Glenn Miller Orchestra on Sunrise Serenade and other hit recordings.

Original instrumental recordings of Twilight Time included those made respectively by the Three Suns[ (1944) and Les Brown & His Band of Renown (1945). Les Brown's version of Twilight Time was recorded in November 1944 and released in early 1945 as the B-side of Sentimental Journey, the first recording of that song. While the A-side featured Doris Day's vocals, Twilight Time was an instrumental. The Platters had a top 10 recording of it in 1960.

Originally from Bizet's French opera Carmen, the Toréador's Song is given a 1940s big band swing treatment. This work was inspired by the arranging style of Jerry Gray and his work on classic themes such as Anvil Chorus for the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Featuring a standard big band line-up with the 1st Alto Sax requiring a clarinet double, there is solo space for the Clarinet, 2nd Trumpet, 1st Tenor Saxophone, and Drums.
