Composer, arranger, trombonist John Yao puts a new spin on Miles Davis’ “Solar” with his Latin infused arrangement.   Cha-cha, Mambo and Afro-Cuban grooves are combined with modern jazz voicings create a colorful and unique arrangement.  An extended solo form makes way for a tutti unison soli line which culminates in a big, tutti ensemble section and percussion solos.  With several unexpected twists and turns, this hard-hitting Latin arrangement offers a fresh, new take on a classic jazz tune.
