Winters End - from the CD SAZZUNK, has a conversation with itself going back and forth between Funky and Latin rhythms. A simple, interval rich melody for the specialized trumpet solo or quartet in the Funky zone leads into Latin tags that introduce the rest of the band with accents that create tension for the transition sections. A short solo section sets up a continuation of the quartet restatement of the melody with all sections jumping in to play supportive roles. The primary solo section breaks down to an expanded quartet ensemble solo not designed for the faint of heart.
