This hit for Sammy Davis Jr. is arranged in a shuffle styl in the key of Eb major. The horn parts are generally quite straight forward and the brass are written within comfortable ranges throughout, although lead trumpet is written to G6 (although this section could be played 8vab if required). More commonly referred to as Pieces of Dreams, this is a 17-pc big band ballad arrangement backing up a male vocalist.  The chart calls for 4 flugelhorns instead of 4 trumpets.  If your band doesn't double, you may use trumpets with bucket mutes as the next best thing.  The key is to balance the lush harmonies behind the singer without drowning out the lyrics.  The vocal range is Bb3 at the low end and Eb5 at the top end.  Best to have a bass trombone in the ensemble.
