Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844242 By Charlie Parker. By Charlie Parker and Dizzy Gillespie. Arranged by Gerhard Guter. Jazz. Score and parts. 31 pages. Gerhard Guter #3885091. Published by Gerhard Guter (A0.844242). The Charlie Parker/Dizzy Gillespie bebop classic, Anthropology, is arranged here in a cool style reminiscent of writers such as Dave Pell. Arranged for nonet, but playable without the guitar and/or vibraphone parts, this treatment features a scat-style vocal atop piano, bass, and drums, with innovative backing figures provided by trumpet, alto sax, and trombone. Vocal is in an ideal key for male and/or female.Anthropology opens with a bass solo over (brush) drums. The first A features a vocal/vibes melody over a highly syncopated stop-time provided by guitar, bass, and drums. Horns enter in gliding unison figures, spreading into harmony, and provide lots of punch and counterpoint as the chart progresses. By way of metric modulation, an Afro-Cuban vamp is an inventive send off for each improvising soloist. The chart concludes with in an across-the-barline rhythmic style style of writing over a satisfying harmonic sequence to wrap it all up.Complete instrumentation:Vocal (male and/or female), Trumpet, Alto Sax, Trombone, Vibes (optional), Guitar (optional), PianoBass, DrumsRanges: G5 trumpet, A4 trombone Demo performed, produced, and programmed by Gerhard Guter .

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.983166 Composed by Craig Wadley. Concert,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 67 pages. Wadley Publications #3046207. Published by Wadley Publications (A0.983166). Yet another jazz tune with a name that makes absolutely no sense! In the same way one would not expect to see an actual aardvark strolling down Beale Street while listening to disco hits of the 1970s, one would not expect to find a G-flat wandering aimlessly about in an E-flat Major 9 chord.  Nonetheless, both of these confounding conundrums are presented here.  Anomalous Adventure Number One is about to start, so grab some hot salsa, get your waka-chicka on, and be ready to swing, big daddy!   Optional parts are included for Bb, Eb, and Bass Clef solos in the event that there is no player for vibes, if you wish to feature a different performer, or if you wish to open solos for more players.INSTRUMENTATIONFeatured Solo - Vibes (opt. parts for substitutions)A Sax - 2 (opt. soprano 1)T Sax - 2B Sax - 1Trumpet - 5Trombone - 5Drum SetGuitarElec. Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504259 By Pipkins. By Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop. 50 pages. John Ivor Holland #1079718. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1504259). Gimme Dat Ding is a 1970 popular UK song by one-hit wonder The Pipkins, written and composed by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. Released as a single, it also appeared on a compilation album of the same name, which The Pipkins shared with another up-and-coming UK group, The Sweet. It's been covered in various languages and released as singles around the world, but more often associated with advertising in the UK and also a version by Grotbags The Witch (played Carol Lee Scott) from popular children's TV show 'Emu's World', featuring Rod Hull and Emu in their famous Pink Windmill. A nostalgic treat for most, but a joyful little number nonetheless.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.862528 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 75 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2033003. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862528). The IImin7-V7-IMaj7 chord progression is the first and most basic set of chords in tonal jazz. So, let's see how far they can be layered, stretched, and interwoven to create some nicely contrasting harmonic and melodic colors. OK, it Might take a BIT more work that the title suggests. Irony is IN right now... The saxes state the theme in octave unison, while the brass comment and accompany. Then the saxes take over for a full chorus of soli. None of the phrases is more than three measures in length, so the players can blow through without blowing themselves out. The soloists are the trumpet, accompanied by a trombone background, and the piano, with saxophones behind it. SampleSolos are provided. The trumpet shows how Woody Shaw might have played this piece with pentatonic scales, a bit of a contrast to the tonal nature of the changes. The piano has a rapid, multi-noted solo with lots of chromatics, with fingerings, to show what the Tatum-style of pianistic technique is all about. Running time is just over 4 mins at suggested tempo. The rhythm section Uni-Part is included with every GateWay Edition Jazz Ensemble Series chart. Drum part is notated as heard on the audio clip.
