Odyssey in Space is a jazz ensemble that compares to the Buddy Rich type of arrangements played by his band in the 1960's. Very brite tempo, many featured solos by the horn section and of course, a large portion devoted to the drummer.
If used in a jazz concert, it is advisable to use this piece as the closer. There are not too many pieces that will follow it if played as written. It is musically very flashy, extremely challenging to perform and totally entertaining if executed as intended. It does require better than average players to pull this off.
