Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.793773 Composed by Walter Kent. Arranged by DIXON mus-IC. Contemporary. Score and Parts. 30 pages. Rammy Music #4592285. Published by Rammy Music (A0.793773). This is a straight forward big band vocal arrangement of the Vera Lynn classic - in the Vera Lynn key of Ab major. It is arranged in the classic dance band style with the lead alto playing clarinet. The arrangement would be perfect for dancing - with a 4 bar intro, the song in full, a band instrumental section, then the vocal again to finish off. The chart is a little over 2 minutes long. The parts are very clearly laid out and the chart could easily be played at sight. There is a full set of parts, a notated vocal part with lyrics and a full score.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.970736 Composed by Mike Strand. Graduation,Jazz,Wedding. Score and parts. 22 pages. Michael M. Strand #4890111. Published by Michael M. Strand (A0.970736). By Mike Strand, ASCAPThis is the full score, plus scores for three groups of parts, for a full arrangement of a swing tune for piano, bass, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, and two singers. After the cover, there are 21 pages of music: Ten pages for the full score; four pages for the group of blowing instruments (alto saxophone, B flat trumpet, and trombone); four pages for the piano and bass; and three pages for the two singers.   Grouping the parts in this manner is natural and advantageous for this particular swing composition. These part groupings will help players in a group coordinate with each other from their group score. This is an excellent compromise between everyone working from the full score, and each player having a score with just the playerā€™s individual part. The audio sample plays the full score. This product solves a problem that any composer of new jazz music faces: Unlike the popular standards, there arenā€™t any well-known and often-heard arrangements for a band to emulate. As the composer with only a lead sheet, I would have to convince your band to develop an arrangement from scratch, starting from nothing but the lead sheet!  With so many attractive standard swing tunes to perform, a busy band may hesitate to put extra effort into an unknown tune. Problem solved! With this full arrangement of They Came Here to Dance, a band can better see and hear the tuneā€™s full potential. It will be easier for a band to make any modifications to suit its particular mix of musicians and to better fit its style. With this arrangement, with written score, part group scores and audio sample, it will be as easy as working from the recording and score of a popular standard. All thatā€™s missing from this arrangement is the percussion, because of the individuality of drummers. The band only needs a skilled jazz drummer to join in easily with this arrangement.  Here are the lyrics to They Came Here to Dance: 1.You may come here to eat and to drink.Lots of chins wag, and wine glasses clink. Well, thatā€™s all good, but hereā€™s what I think: They came here to dance! 2. We cats up front have to check our sound mix. Then they walk in, togged to the bricks. They have the moves to show off our licks. They came here to dance! Bridge ā€“ Instrumental section, followed by: Our bandā€™s in the groove ā€“ hereā€™s one reason why: The doghouse amps are turned up high. They get in there, and tear up the floor! And they donā€™t care if their feet get sore. 3. Bustinā€™ our conks, we cats are hot, She is a wren who rocks him a lot! And they donā€™t care if we light up or not. They came here to dance!4. Bridge again, then:Bustinā€™ our conks, we cats are hot, She is a wren who rocks him a lot! And they donā€™t care if we light up or not. They have the learning to, they have a yearning to,They came here to dance! Note Some words in these lyrics are taken from Cab Calloway Slang: Light up ā€“ smoke a stick (marijuana cigarette) Doghouse - bass Get in there - go to work, get busy, make it hot, give it all you got Bustinā€™ our conks ā€“ breaking our necks (applying ourselves diligently) Wren ā€“ a chick, a queen (beautiful girl) Cat ā€“ musician in swing band Togged to the bricks ā€“ dressed to kill, from head to toe Licks ā€“ hot musical phrases In the groove ā€“ perfect, down the alley  .

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.788952 By Stevie Wonder. By Stevie Wonder. Arranged by Musiscorz. Hip-Hop,Latin,Pop,R & B. Score and parts. 138 pages. Musiscorz #396039. Published by Musiscorz (A0.788952). My arrangement of the Stevie Wonders performance on Innervisions to try and get as close to the original as possible, using the instruments for my school band. It does sound different using saxophones but have included parts for Brass Sextet. It is transcribed with Rhythm section parts for those that find it difficult to read chords or improvise/comp. In the arrangement, I have added the parts for the Vocal Lead to be played by various instrumentalists you might want to feature such as Alto Sax Lead with Tenor Sax backings, Tenor Lead and Tenor Sax Backings, Clarinet Lead. There is the opportunity to add multiple percussionists in addition to the drumkit. It was a fun song to arrange and the band really love playing this song with the Latin Vibe. Band Line up: Lead Vox and BV's, Alto Saxes x3, Tenor Saxes x 2, Bari Sax, Trumpets x 3, French Horn, Trombone, Tuba, Micro Korg Keys - Organ ,Keys - Piano,, Nord - Electric piano overdriven, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Egg Shaker,, Cabasa, African shaker, Cow bell.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.979653 Composed by Roger Aldridge. Contemporary,Jazz. Score and parts. 10 pages. Roger Aldridge #441219. Published by Roger Aldridge (A0.979653). Shifting time funk (for 5 wind instruments and rhythm section)! The title expresses my disdain for contending with monster SUVs when driving on Connecticut Avenue in Washington, DC. As I envision this music, it is funky and adventurous. The piece is a minimalist composition -- the melody is only 16 bars. However, it has expanded improvisation concepts for the soloist and the ensemble. The ensemble's collective improvisation is to sound like music coming out of car windows in traffic. The sounds change quickly. Different kinds of music come, go, and overlap. Radios (or electronics) may be used for additional layers of sound. The soloists use four chord progression patterns. Each soloist determines which patterns to play and their sequence. The patterns can be played in any order. Ideally, the patterns are determined within a performance instead of before. The soloist communicates the patterns, and when to shift to a new pattern, to the ensemble by hand signals. The ensemble (including horn players) can improvise backgrounds and interactions with the soloist. Music styles can also shift within a solo. Performers can take the music in any creative direction they want to go with it. Note: There are differences between the score and the demo recording. The small group recording was made (from a lead sheet) several years before my mid-size ensemble score was written. For this new recording, the horn parts from my score were added to the earlier recording. The video syncs the pages of the score with the recording as closely as possible. PARTS: The set of parts is available at CONNECTICUT AVENUE SUVS PARTS (S0.84821). Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490039 Composed by Harry Tobias and Percy Wenrich. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Jazz,Pop,Standards. 24 pages. John Ivor Holland #1066902. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1490039). Sail Along Silvery Moon is a song written by Harry Tobias and Percy Wenrich in 1937 and originally performed by Bing Crosby, although covered later on by many artists including Andy Williams, Gene Autry and Slim Whitman. It reached #4 on the U.S. pop chart in 1937. in December 1957, saxophonist Billy Vaughn released an instrumental version of the song which went to #5 on the U.S. pop chart and #1 in Germany and in Canada. The following year, the song went #1 in Norway and made #4 in Australia. This arrangement for jazz ensemble follows the alto and tenor sax duet version by Vaughn, but makes these parts available for flute and clarinet if a doubling option is desired. There are short solos throughout, but nothing too complicated, it's a warm, nostalgic chart that would fit nicely into any programme.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1043304 Composed by P. R. Frederick. Arranged by P. R. Frederick. Contest,Festival,Jazz. Score and Parts. 52 pages. P. R. Frederick #647994. Published by P. R. Frederick (A0.1043304). Burn is a hard driving funk style chart scored for jazz band. At a tempo of 130 beats per minute it really does burn. The piece opens with a strong rhythmic figure played by the entire band based on quartal harmony. Then the main melody enters in a soli passage for the saxes. Ist trumpet must be able to hit a Bb above the staff on this one. Room for solos is provided. It would make a great addition to any program. After teaching music in the PA public schools for over thirty years I found that there were never enough good quality, accessible arrangements available. Hopefully this piece will help remedy that situation. This is an original arrangement for a jazz/swing band with standard instrumentation (5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm section).See all of my arrangements here

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1433756 By Various Artists. By Oscar Hammerstein and Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Sam Fettig. 20th Century,Broadway,Jazz,Musical/Show. 49 pages. Sam Fettig #1013985. Published by Sam Fettig (A0.1433756). https://www.samfettigmusic.com/JAZZ ENSEMBLE GRADE 1.5PROGRAM NOTESSurrey With the Fringe on Top is a song from the 1943 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “Oklahoma!”. It became a standard song among jazz musicians, especially after Miles Davis recorded it. There is a wonderful version recorded by saxophonist  Cannonball Adderly on his 1955 album “Cannonball Adderly With Strings”. PERFORMANCE NOTESSurrey With the Fringe on Top is a 32-bar AABA form in the key of concert B flat. In this arrangement, the A-section melody features several tongue-in-cheek grand pause moments. These are indicated by fermatas over quarter note rests. Have fun with these spots, varying the length of time you pause, which can done with a comical effect. The solo section at bar 37 is open to any player, and a set of notes is provided for improvisation. The backgrounds at 41 are to be played each time, and the solo section can be repeated as necessary for additional solos. The shout chorus at bar 47 should be played at full volume. Be sure to investigate and balance the chords among the wind instruments.  The shout chorus winds down with a call and response between the brass and saxes.I hope you have fun with this classic tune!
