Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.872915 Composed by VonTilzer. Arranged by P.A. Drahozal. Blues,Folk,Holiday,Jazz,Patriotic. Score and parts. 50 pages. MusicPAD Music Publications #6294903. Published by MusicPAD Music Publications (A0.872915). This is the traditional baseball theme (Take Me Out to the Ballgame) set in an energetic jazz band swing chart. After a brief intro to lay it down, the melody starts in a lazy swing tempo with a lilting alto solo (a-la street player in front of the park) and soon builds to a full ensemble shout then a lively up-tempo accentuated by energetic interjections.  There is an open solo section before the head is repeated with a typical Tin-Pan-Alley ending.  Logical rehearsal marks and generous technique items make rehearsal a snap!  Ossia notes (lead trumpet) are included for developing / younger artists.  This is a super-duper exciting and moderately challenging chart which really showcases your band and the jazz band at its very finest.  The included MIDI playback file here is taken from the original layout in an effort to show the most accurate portrayal of this arrangement.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1011871 Composed by Ron Flanary - Melody and Lyrics. Arranged by Jason Bailey - Scoring and Arranging. Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 66 pages. Jason Bailey #3679581. Published by Jason Bailey (A0.1011871). With a melody by Ron Flanary and a jazz band setting by Jason Bailey, Ridin on the Santa Fe is a throwback big band piece that features a vocalist, open solo space, and drum solo.  Chronicling the train, the Santa Fe, this piece is a Glenn Miller style vocal piece that is a good piece for advanced high school or college jazz bands.  This was first premiered by the UVA-Wise Jazz Ensemble located in Wise, VA, under the direction of Dr. Donald Sorah.

I had wanted to write such a chart for several years and I had the opportunity to do so in April 2019. The title refers to that al to familiar feeling of walking onto a sandy beach on a hot sunny day and your feet get a little bit burnt. This is represented by there 11/16 bars and the angular nature of the chart. I hope that you enjoy this new Funk chart and would love to hear from you if you ever perform it.Many thanks. .

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.977365 Composed by Frank Loesser. Arranged by Des McNutty. Contemporary. Score and parts. 61 pages. Des Press #6888385. Published by Des Press (A0.977365). If I Were a Bell is a song from the 1950 musical Guys and Dolls, based on Damon Runyan stories from Broadway in the prohibition era. Sky, the thirsty gambler, takes straight-laced Salvationist Sarah to Havana for a bet. They drink a local milkshake with sugar and a little native flavouringSarah: What's the name of the flavouring?Sky: Bacardi.Sarah: Doesn't Bacardi have alcohol in it?Sky: Oh, only enough to act as a preservative.Sarah: You know, this would be a wonderful way to get children to drink milk! After a couple of those, she bursts into song. Doris Day had a Top-20 hit with If I Were a Bell in 1950 and many singers have covered it since. Its place as a Jazz Standard was cemented in 1956 on the album Relaxin' with The Miles Davis Quintet. This original arrangement for big band features a solo flute - if not a flute solo - and, at 128 BPM, is slightly slower than usual. It was written in the mid-1990s for the Morley College Jazz Orchestra in London (then directed by Gordon BAP! Rose and Pete Pearl and Dean Moore). The style is in the direction of the understated West-Coast sound (Count Basie/Bill Russo/Bill Holman), with tipsy soli sections and a shout-chorus. The part for second alto OR first tenor is the same, meaning the flautist can be either an alto or tenor player. Well, if I were a salad I know I'd be splashing my dressing.Hic!

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922044 Composed by Henri Abraham Cesar Malan (1787-1864). Arranged by Denny Glasscock. Christian,Jazz,Praise & Worship. Score and parts. 40 pages. Denny Glasscock #6058077. Published by Denny Glasscock (A0.922044). The original public domain hymn has been modified to a Big Band style jazz piece. It's been designed to be played by large or small instrumental ensembles. It uses swing eighth note rhythms and incorporates most of the usual instruments of a concert band or orchestra, or jazz ensemble. Lyrics are not included, however it retains all six verses as it goes through key changes and a D.S. al Coda. Thus the lyrics from a hymn book could be used to sing all six verses. The first verse is a slow chorale style passage. Then it goes to fast tempo jazz style, much like a New Orleans style derge, or funeral march. The piece is 2:45 minutes in length, but could be shortened, by about 50 seconds, by playing straight through without taking the D.S. al Coda. It would also make an impressive half time show piece for marching band. A performance/play along track is available separately - see item number S0.873189.
