Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1504259 By Pipkins. By Albert Hammond and Mike Hazelwood. Arranged by John Ivor Holland. 20th Century,Film/TV,Pop. 50 pages. John Ivor Holland #1079718. Published by John Ivor Holland (A0.1504259). Gimme Dat Ding is a 1970 popular UK song by one-hit wonder The Pipkins, written and composed by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood. Released as a single, it also appeared on a compilation album of the same name, which The Pipkins shared with another up-and-coming UK group, The Sweet. It's been covered in various languages and released as singles around the world, but more often associated with advertising in the UK and also a version by Grotbags The Witch (played Carol Lee Scott) from popular children's TV show 'Emu's World', featuring Rod Hull and Emu in their famous Pink Windmill. A nostalgic treat for most, but a joyful little number nonetheless.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862693 By Queen. By Freddie Mercury and Frederick Mercury. Arranged by Michael Bomier. Rock. Score and parts. 68 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #3926193. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862693). Bohemian Rhapsody, the Song of the Moment, the Film of the year, and the piece everyone wants to try and play! Here is a setting for a standard jazz ensemble with ONE main Idea: Let's NOT make this a guitar piece, but a Horn Piece. So, we have all the same structures as the original recording, right down to the time changes, and the shift from slow to fast and back again. The saxes are given the solo vocal line harmonized as a typical sax soli. The brass take Queen's vocal overdubs and operatic elements, and are given a jazz rather than a pop harmonic setting, with some extended and altered harmony, rather than just the triads and 7th chords of the Queen vocal. Sax ranges go to the top of the horn for lead alto, and go to a concert Ab just above the staff for the lead trpt. Trombone goes to a high Bb in the lead solo. First ending should appear at ms. 29 to the repeat. 2nd ending at ms. 35The guitar solos are given to either the piano, in octaves, or the brass, so that a guitar player is an option here, not a necessity. Revised version here, with ending placement errors all fixed up! This is NOT a jazz chart in the improvisational sense: it is a pop song set for a jazz ensemble. Our audio clip shows the opening trombone solo with the piano accomp, into the main vocal line harmonized with saxes. The score precedes the parts in the PDF file, with coverpage and a blank page, so print double-sided until pg. 27. Parts begin at pg. 28 and should be printed single-sided. MBB

Score and parts. 50 pages. Chicory Music #6598489. Published by Chicory Music (A0.734600). Java is an instrumental adaptation from a 1958 LP of piano compositions, The Wild Sounds of New Orleans, by Toussaint, also known as New Orleans producer/songwriter Allen Toussaint. As was the case of the rest of Toussaint's LP, Java was composed at the studio, primarily by Toussaint. The first charting version was done by Floyd Cramer in 1962. His version fell just short of the U.S. Top 40.In 1963, trumpet player Al Hirt recorded the instrumental, and the track was the first single from his album Honey in the Horn. It was Hirt's first and biggest hit on the US pop charts, reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 on February 29, 1964 and spending four weeks at number one on the easy listening chart in early 1964. The song was also featured on his greatest hits album, The Best of Al Hirt. Hirt released a live version on his 1965 album, Live at Carnegie Hall. He also recorded the song with Arthur Fiedler and the Boston Pops for the RCA Red Seal album Pops Goes the Trumpet (Holiday for Brass) in 1964.Hirt's recording won the Grammy Award for Best Performance by an Orchestra or Instrumentalist with Orchestra in 1964.This jazz ensemble / big band arrangement features your lead trumpet player with medium to easy background support from the rest of the band. Latin jazz groove. Flutes, Alto Saxophone, Piano, Bass, Drums … all parts annotated. The commercial recording was released on the Artists Recording Collective (ARC) label and available at the top music stores like: iTunes, Amazon Music, Google Play and CD Baby. STUDIO RECORDING NOTES The provided MP3 Audio Clip contains an excerpt of the commercial recording and features: Christopher Burnett – alto saxophone/composition; Roger Wilder – piano; Jeff Harshbarger – bass; Clarence Smith – drums; with Terri Anderson Burnett and Freda Proctor – flutes. The final mastering and mix by Craig Rettmer at C.R. Sound in Kansas City is truly amazing. ABOUT THE COMPOSER How are jazz careers made? Many have remarked on the big historical shift: musicians used to apprentice on the road with masters and learn the language firsthand, but those cultural conditions are fading, and the bandstand has been replaced by the graduate degree. There’s truth in that narrative, and yet it fails to account for the full variety of paths that players are taking as they strive to find their voice in this music. For alto saxophonist Christopher Burnett, the journey involved spending 22 years as a musician in the U.S. Army. He left the service in 1996 - I’ve been out nearly as long as I was in, he says - and resettled in 2001 in his native Kansas City metropolitan area. Two years earlier, in 1999, he had released his debut recording, Time Flies, and in 2008 he followed up with Theme Music, both on the Artists Recording Collective (ARC) label that he cofounded with saxophonist Erica Lindsay and pianist Sumi Tonooka. Now at age 58, Burnett reaches another level of achievement with Firebird, showcasing a fine working quartet and a set of compositions rich in beauty, subtlety and sophistication. There’s a remarkable lyrical ease and harmonic savvy in the compositions that make up Firebird, not least of all on the title track with its layered flutes and Latin-tinged rhythmic feel. Burnett’s legato eloquence and depth of expression on the slow 4/4 Ballad for An Optimist is another highlight. His choice of the inspired, metrically shifting A Risk I Take, by French horn virtuoso and colleague Mark Taylor, tells us much about his refined taste and interpretive abilities.
