Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.1489925 By Christopher Frost. By Christopher Frost. Arranged by Christopher Frost. Contemporary,Jazz. 47 pages. Christopher Frost #1066799. Published by Christopher Frost (A0.1489925). Wife Approaching is a tango for 17-piece Big Band. This tongue-in-cheek tango portrays a tempestuous relationship between husband and wife. Warning sirens punctuate the piece with the husband continually worried as his wife approaches. The music shifts from minor to major half way through giving the husband hope before being brutally undercut by an ominous sounding trombone section and lower end. There are 3 main sections with the usual tango tropes that makes the piece fun to play and listen and dance to.Recordings of Christopher Frost's Big Band compositions can be found on his YouTube channel playlist:Big Bandwww.chrisfrostmusic.comchris@chrisfrostmusic.com.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862526 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Jazz,Standards. Score and parts. 58 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032953. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862526). Popular Culture is a most interesting tune. The melody is all in 4ths, over some altered and minor chords. Each of the scales required for the improvisers is a melodic minor-derived scale, giving the whole piece an air of both openness, with the wide melodic intervals, and also a darker color, with those chords and scales in play. There are SampleSolos for the piano and 4th trumpet. Changes are included for an additional trombone solo, if desired, no sample provided. The main statement segues directly into a mixed soli that alternates tutti and mixed soli sections. Then, it's on to the blowing choruses, each with the background. No soloists will be required to play in the background, so everyone stays fresh. The melody returns, in a layered and stretto sort of way, with the final theme's second half returning to the altered voicings that are so characteristic the piece. Approx running time is one minute per chorus. Audio clip is just the piano solo, with backgrounds, so as to be able to hear those backgrounds clearly. Ranges are conservative, high and low. Rhythm section Uni-Part for bass, optional guitar, and even piano and drums if you wish, for simplicity's sake. All parts are two pages, rhythm section are three. MBB.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1509330 By Wayne Shorter. By Wayne Shorter. Arranged by Alberto Mandarini. 20th Century,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Jazz,Standards. 47 pages. Alm@music #1083972. Published by Alm@music (A0.1509330). Jazz Ensemble / Big Band - Grade 3.5Instrumentation: Full Score; Alto Sax 1; Alto Sax 2; Tenor Sax 1; Tenor Sax 2; Baritone Sax; Trumpet 1; Trumpet 2; Trumpet 3; Trumpet 4; Trombone 1; Trombone 2; Trombone 3; Bass Trombone; Guitar; Piano; Bass; Drums. With the arrangement of Wayne Shorter's Infant Eves, I officially start the series dedicated to the most typical orchestral ensemble in jazz: the Big Band. The instrumentation is the traditional one: 5 saxophones, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm section (guitar, piano, double bass and drums). After a brief introduction, in which the double bass moves freely over an orchestral accompaniment, the exposition of the initial part of theme A is entrusted to the first trombone, followed by the saxophone section and then the trumpet section (B).This all flows into the last section of the theme (C), in a robust brass ensemble to which the saxophones respond with simple counterpoint phrases. The last four bars, again entrusted to the saxophones, gradually lead us to the solo section. The latter is developed over a chorus and a half, and each of the soloists is given one of the four sections (A, B, C, A): the first is by the first trombone (the arrangement's main soloist), the second by the first alto saxophone, while the third features the orchestra in a short nine-bar special, where the three sections chase and chase each other. The final solo part is then entrusted to the second trumpet, which gives way to the orchestra for the reprise of the remaining two sections of the theme as well as the inevitable coda.Altogether, the arrangement spans three complete choruses, plus the introduction and coda, for a total duration of just under seven minutes.I hope you enjoy this arrangement and, as always, I wish youGood Music!!!am.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1494312 By Pat Thomas. By Antonio Carlos Jobim and Newton Mendonca. Arranged by Philip Coe. 20th Century,Jazz,Latin. 33 pages. Phil Coe #1070908. Published by Phil Coe (A0.1494312). This arrangement for Jazz Orchestra is a Guitar feature that opens with a very simple guitar and drums samba setup. The ensemble enters with a stronger statement that builds to the head. The guitar plays the A section of the head in octave or single notes. The bridges section swings as a single eighth note guitar line. The background starts with the sax section followed with counterpoint between the trumpet and trombone sections. The second time through the form, Tenor Sax 1 solos over the first half changes and background. The guitar takes over solo on the last half of the form which leads into an echo of the intro and builds up to the shout chorus. The shout builds to a melodic trumpet high D followed by an obvious quotation by the ensemble. Repetition of the ensemble intro with a main theme fragment is followed by brass pyramids and a final theme stinger to close out the piece. 160 bpm per quarter note is a suggested tempo but the piece can be taken faster for more excitement and energy. The piece is written in 4/4 for the swing bridge section. The samba sections should be felt in 2/2 with the accent on the 2. The quarter note always stays the same.

An easy blend of R&B and rock, this tune is insanely easy (hence the low price), using only 3 different notes! You can make it even more fun by adding easy choreography for the winds - start with bells down, slowly rise during the crescendo, then alternate bells left, then right for each repeated measure. This 54-second arrangement has an easy key and the well-marked rehearsal numbers reduce the amount of time needed in rehearsal.Parts are formatted to fit in a flip-folder, but print on letter-sized paper if you prefer to use 3-ring binders._______________________The highly-flexible BcP-Flex scoring imitates the classic rock band sound by using only 4 instruments/voices - lead, rhythm, bass, and drums:Lead: Flute, Clarinets, Alto Sax, Trumpets (note: for this piece, everyone except bass line has a unison lead/rhythm part)Rhythm: Trombone, Horn, TC Baritone, Tenor Sax (note: for this piece, everyone except bass line has a unison lead/rhythm part)Bass: Electric Bass, Tuba, Bari SaxDrums: This arrangement includes a written drum set part, but it is often easier to get the drummer to pick-up the tune by listening to the chart._______________________To see these other high-energy titles in this series, click www.sheetmusicplus.com/search?Ntt=bcp-flex Barbara Ann (Beach Boys)Blitzkrieg Bop (Ramones)Blues Brothers Riff (I Can’t Turn You Loose - Otis Redding)Come & Get It (Selena Gomez)Grazing in the Grass (Hugh Masekela)Hey! Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.947269 Composed by John Philips. Jazz. Score and parts. 15 pages. John Philips Music Service #3867635. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947269). Set the tempo for about 90. This is a trumpet/fluegelhorn feature ballad that requires a strong lyrical soloist that can play in tune. It is very pretty, not difficult but must be played as is to work. First chorus is solo, second chorus first half ensemble, bridge is trumpet solo in front of brass section, last 8 modulates up for a big finish. Appropriate for a working band or a good high school or college band. Dedicated to Randy Brooks. Solo part has more than eighth notes but tempo is slow.If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free. They depend on intonation and the players being not intimidated by what he is asked to play. There is no contest to see how high you can go before you need oxygen , how many notes you can play in 9 seconds or before your bell overheats , or how long it takes the audience to cover their earsRelaxed and confident players always play more in tune. Good harmonies, lines and realistic rhythm patterns will produce a good result that will swing and be enjoyed by player and listener alike.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.947278 Composed by John Philips. Jazz. Score and parts. 18 pages. John Philips Music Service #3867729. Published by John Philips Music Service (A0.947278). This is an alto sax feature ballad. The melody is full and rich and could make you think of Johnny Hodges. First bridge is alto 1 & 2 in unison...with solo alto out front and alto 2 in section it gets a nice echo effect--Last 8 back to alto 1 solo. First half of second chorus has a band within a band over background. Solo part has a few notes past an eighth.Last bridge trombones then alto solo last 8. Ending is very dramatic with some interesting alto work..the very last note is held over the band....like Harlem Nocturne. Not too fast.Don’t let the last note scare you, look at your fingering chart or play it 8va lower. If you want a Maynard or Buddy chart, look elsewhere. This series of charts uses nothing more complicated than eighth notes, are not frantic or screamers, extreme ranges and are hemi-demi-semi-quaver free.
