The Four Temperaments is a theory created by Ancient Greek physician Aelius Galenus to describe the effect of the four fundamental bodily homours on human personality. The temperaments are Melancholic, Phlegmatic, Choleric, and Sanguine. The theory is that every person has varying levels of each temperament within them, but overall identifies with a single one. Each temperament is related to a classical element and a personality type:

Melancholic - Earth - Analytical and Quiet
Phlegmatic - Water - Relaxed and Peaceful
Choleric - Fire - Short tempered and Irritable
Sanguine - Air - Optimistic and Social

In this suite we travel through all four of the temperaments, seeing how the same melody is interpreted by each personality type.

Ok - this one is just plain fun. Originally released on Aerosmith's Toys in the Attic and later remade adding Run DMC, Walk This Way is a bonafide rock and roll classic. This arrangement is to be played with all the Aerosmith swagger possible with a big band. Solo section is open with changes in AS1, TS1, Tpt2 & Tbn1. Obviously, a screamin' guitar solo would be totally appropriate. The key signature is neutral, with accidentals placed as needed. This chart will give any jazz band concert some serious attitude!

Here is one of my favorite Monkees song. At the time it was unusual to have a rock/pop band do a song in this jazz blues style. It was released as the B-Side to their Daydream Believer single. This is the long version with sax and trumpet solos transcribed. This was a mainstay in their concerts. The song was used to mimic the end of any James Brown concert. It's a very fast song.
