Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.927180 Composed by George S. Schuler, John Bacchus Dykes, Philip P. Bliss, Robert Lowry, William B. Bradbury, and William H. Monk. Arranged by George Willson. Jazz. Score and parts. 63 pages. George Willson #6359433. Published by George Willson (A0.927180). Written for a tribute concert, Make Me A Blessing was a favorite hymn of a departed friend who was a member of the T-Town Jazz Band. Using this hymn as its foundation, this composition uses a total of ten well-known hymns in the public domain as melodies, solos, and backgrounds transitioning them all into big band style swing 4/4. Hymns include It Is Well With My Soul, Just As I Am, Abide With Me, My Hope Is Built On Nothing Else, Nothing But The Blood, When I Survey The Wondrous Cross, Amazing Grace, Be Thou My Vision, and Holy, Holy, Holy. MP3 is generated from the composition software, but rehearsals of this piece can be found on the T-Town Jazz Facebook page.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.922044 Composed by Henri Abraham Cesar Malan (1787-1864). Arranged by Denny Glasscock. Christian,Jazz,Praise & Worship. Score and parts. 40 pages. Denny Glasscock #6058077. Published by Denny Glasscock (A0.922044). The original public domain hymn has been modified to a Big Band style jazz piece. It's been designed to be played by large or small instrumental ensembles. It uses swing eighth note rhythms and incorporates most of the usual instruments of a concert band or orchestra, or jazz ensemble. Lyrics are not included, however it retains all six verses as it goes through key changes and a D.S. al Coda. Thus the lyrics from a hymn book could be used to sing all six verses. The first verse is a slow chorale style passage. Then it goes to fast tempo jazz style, much like a New Orleans style derge, or funeral march. The piece is 2:45 minutes in length, but could be shortened, by about 50 seconds, by playing straight through without taking the D.S. al Coda. It would also make an impressive half time show piece for marching band. A performance/play along track is available separately - see item number S0.873189.

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.867861 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Ric Flauding. Christian,Jazz,World. Score and parts. 36 pages. Denise Lea Flauding #2890599. Published by Denise Lea Flauding (A0.867861). World-Jazz style. Version for Jazz Big Band. In the style of Yellowjackets. As recorded by Ric Flauding. REVIEWS: I wanted to re-post info on Ric Flauding's arrangement of 'All Creatures of Our God and King!' Very unique with some surprising twists and turns...starts out with just quiet strings and piano but after a verse the percussion appear with 7/8 time signature along with Ed Maina's great soprano sax. Then a final key change back to 4/4 that builds to a dramatic climax. I played piano, Eric Darken-Percussion, Dave Owens-drums, Gordon Rustvold - bass. - David Arivett: Christian Jazz Artists. Very nice, Ric! Love the way you included both new AND old elements of the hymn. Great job! - Fletch Wiley.flaudingmusic.com

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774418 Composed by Brad Esbensen, Bernadette M. Debattista. Arranged by Brad Esbensen. Jazz,Multicultural,World. Score and parts. 132 pages. Brad Esbensen Music Services #6092699. Published by Brad Esbensen Music Services (A0.774418). This work was originally composed for choir by Bernadette Debattista and was first performed at the Dawn Service, commemorating the centenary of the Gallipoli landings, in ANZAC Cove on 25 April 2015 by a combined choir from St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace and All Hallows’ School. This extended work sees the original theme recomposed for big band and choir. It may be performed in its entirety or the third movement may be omitted (or presented as spoken word only) if a choir is not available. The sax section requires the following doubles: Clarinet for Alto Saxes 1 and 2, and Tenor Sax 2; Flute for Tenor Sax 1; Bassoon for Bari Sax (although a Bari Sax part with no doubles has been included). There is also an optional part for Eb Sarrusophone! Trumpets require Flugelhorns and Harmon mutes. The recording features excerpts from each of the four movements and a brief description of each follows.1. Distant Shores With its jaunty, march-like feel, one can only imagine what it must have been like as these young men and women travelled to far off places, fired with the thrill of adventure, blind to the trauma and terrors of war. 2.Your Sons Are Our Sons The title for this movement is a paraphrase of a line in a speech given by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in which he speaks of the special bond between Australia and Turkey. This movement features solo space for Piano and Trumpet.3.Reflection This movement features a small vocal group, including some of the singers who were present at the 2015 performance in ANZAC Cove, and a reading of the poem that became the lyrics of the song. 4.Hymn The final movement presents the theme in close to its original form, although extensively re-harmonised. A solo trumpet for most of the movement.I hope you enjoy performing this work.www.bemus.com.au

Jazz Ensemble Jazz Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1509513 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Donald Jay Smith. Christmas,Contest,Festival,Holiday,Instructional,Jazz. 26 pages. Donald Jay Smith Music #1084751. Published by Donald Jay Smith Music (A0.1509513). This is an adaptation of the traditional hymn, The First Noel with melodic changes to match  harmonization similar to rhythm changes and arranged for jazz band, (2AS, 2TS, BS, 4Trpt, 4Trb, and rhythm section). It simultaneously fulfilled two objectives. The improvisation lessons for the band revolved around rhythm changes near the holiday season one year and there were no available holiday songs set to the rhythm changes progression. And, it set up an announcement to the audience that the long wait was over after the introduction of The First Noel that inferred that some day there would some day be a Second Noel. It's here! Enjoy!!!
