Each song begins with the vocal part set for medium voice with chords for ukulele. This is followed by a fingerstyle accompaniment and a ukulele solo with introduction and coda. These different parts can be assembled in different ways, for example, very simply, with voice and strummed chords, or more elaborately: intro, verse 1 with chords, verse 2 with fingerstyle accompaniment followed by the solo, verse 3, etc., or as a duet, with uke 1 playing the melody and uke 2 playing chords or fingerstyle accompaniment. The traditional ballad, Geordie, tells a tragic tale set to a plaintive Aeolian mode melody.
