This lovely 12th-century plainchant antiphon from the Las Huelgas Codex (c. 1300) is featured on the Anonymous 4 cd Secret Voices (2011, harmonia mundi usa 807510). Duration 1’ 26.

The biblical wise and foolish virgins figure in several songs, like this one, in this Codex from the royal Castilian convent. 

This chant can be sung by a solo voice or by a unison choir, at any comfortable pitch.

A beautiful setting of the British hymn tune {Repton} with the Whittier text, Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways... for unison treble chorus, organ, and C instrument obbligato. The original arrangement was for violin and organ for the Sunday following the 9/11 tragedy. The updated arrangement for violin and piano is part of the David Kim book and recording The Lord Is My Shepherd, and this setting could be sung by a children's choir, women's choir, or even a soloist.
