The Absent-Minded Archaeologist from The Lost Padre Mine is a musical number from a melodrama I set to music. It feature a vocal solo sung by the Archaeologist (a baritone), an optional chorus part (sung by the cast), and piano accompaniment. This comedic piece is written in a Gilbert and Sullivan style and is very effective when staged. This purchase allows you one copy for the soloist, three copies of the score (director, pianist, and choreographer), and as many copies of the chorus part as you need for your group. A choral piece suitable for youth choir that utilizes unison male and female voices together and separate with no choral counterpoint; maybe also be performed as completely unison mixed choir or male or female choir. Choral parts have restricted ranges and are diatonic. The words are based on the famous poem by George Moses Horton who was an African-American poet from North Carolina, the first to be published in the Southern United States. A beautiful setting of the British hymn tune {Repton} with the Whittier text, Dear Lord and Father of mankind, forgive our foolish ways... for unison treble chorus, organ, and C instrument obbligato. The original arrangement was for violin and organ for the Sunday following the 9/11 tragedy. The updated arrangement for violin and piano is part of the David Kim book and recording The Lord Is My Shepherd, and this setting could be sung by a children's choir, women's choir, or even a soloist.
