Secondly, the highly repetitive motive of three notes at the opening helps give the opportunity to concentrate on the drama of the text so that the word is more important than a melody. It also makes for easy learning and memorization so that concentration can be part of the story. An excellent vehicle for clear enunciation, as in 'The Festival Alleluia'. This anthem could also very well be performed with a pantomime dramatization concurrent with the singing.

Both movements end in the customary manner with the Gloria, which is based on the Magnificat's opening. The text is in English, adapted from Luke 1: 46-55 and Luke 2: 29-32. This work is appropriate for most standards of soloist or unison choir, including school, student, community, church and cathedral choirs. The accompaniment is for organ but can be adapted by a good pianist. The SATB version of the work is also available via Sheet Music Plus.
