Syncopated rhythms in the accompaniment highlight the familiar DUKE STREET tune in stanzas one and three, contrasted by a more flowing, legato accompaniment in stanza two. A slightly slower tempo and the addition of optional vocal harmony in stanza three bring the piece to an exciting, climactic conclusion.
