There are numerous such songs from various places in Britain. Wassail All Over the Town,  based on the  Gloucestershire Wassail,  is one of the best known from this tradition, dating back to medieval times. Set for flute (or flute-like instrument) and hammered dulcimer, with words and music for carolers and guitar chords. About 3 min. for instrumental performance, longer if singing is included.  12 pp., including song sheet for unison singers and guitar (chords), score, plus parts for flute and dulcimer.

Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998815 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 20th Century,Christmas,Folk,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score. 3 pages. Robert A. Howard #6083703. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998815). This is an original setting of the well-known Advent text, for use in worship or concerts at Christmas. The work exhibits a modal folk flavour (using the flattened seventh) which is combined with blues inflections due to the alternation between major and minor third intervals. The melody is genuinely catchy and very contrasting to the famous original tune sung to this text. The piece is appropriate for virtually any standard and size of unison choir, including school, student, community, church and cathedral choirs, as well as for just solo voice. The accompaniment is quite pianistic but can be played/adapted on the organ. Versions are provided in the keys of both G and F (i.e. transposed down a tone). The recording provided includes both transpositions, with 2 verses given of each, thus still playing the desired 4 verses.
