Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1187976 By Manhattan Transfer. By Eric Maschwitz and Manning Sherwin. Arranged by Paul W. Allen. Blues,Historic,Instructional,Standards. Octavo. 7 pages. Allen/Myer Musicals #787581. Published by Allen/Myer Musicals (A0.1187976). This sultry ballad looks complicated on the page, but at the tempo indicated can be directed successfully with most 3- to 6-octave choirs; simply use the instruments you have at hand and ignore the rest.  At most times, the chimes double the voice but in other moments they compliment the singer.  The history of the song and its lyrics are discussed at the conclusion of the arrangement.  You may purchase one copy of this vocal part for the price listed.

Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1200061 By Floyd Cramer. By Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. Arranged by Paul W. Allen. Historic,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Octavo. 10 pages. Allen/Myer Musicals #798871. Published by Allen/Myer Musicals (A0.1200061). This marvelous 1941 song was originally recorded as a big band/swing tune by Glenn Miller and His Orchestra and featured in the 1941 movie Sun ValleySerenade.  It was the first song to receive a gold record, presented by RCA Victor in 1942, for sales of 1.2 million copies.  The song was an extended production number, and became the No. 1 song across the United States on December 7, 1941, and remained at No. 1 for nine weeks on the Billboard Best Sellers chart.  It opens up with the band, sounding like a train rolling out of the station, complete with the trumpets and trombones imitating a train whistle, before the instrumental portion comes in playing two parts of the main melody.  This is followed by the vocal introduction of four lines before the main part of the song is heard.  The main song opens with a dialog between a passenger and a shoeshine boy.  The singer describes the train's route, originating from Pennsylvania Station in New York and running through Baltimore to North Carolina before reaching Chattanooga. He mentions a woman he knew from an earlier time in his life, who will be waiting for him at the station and with whom he plans to settle down for good. After the entire song is sung, the band plays two parts of the main melody as an instrumental, with the instruments imitating the WHOO WHOO of the train as the song ends.  This is a very intriguing adaptation, with or without voice.  The price indicated allows you to purchase one (1) copy of the vocal version.

Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.898549 Composed by Matthew Alan Edwards. Arranged by Matthew Alan Edwards. Christian,Holiday,Romantic Period,Sacred. Octavo. 7 pages. Matthew Alan Edwards #4111323. Published by Matthew Alan Edwards (A0.898549). Now offering 25% off my SMP price at MatthewAlanEdwards.com/op-9 !Come, ye thankful people, come was inspired by the Anglican choral style of David Willcocks and other English church composers. This is evident starting in the two introductory measures, which grow from a single note and immediately introduce the tune. The introductory harmonic language is reused throughout the first verse, which closes with a solo flute soaring above the final note. The solo flute continues its melody in tandem with the tune in the second verse. The third verse features a tenor melody on an English tuba stop while the upper accompanimental voices explore their own melody. After a brief transition to full organ, the final verse features the upper voices in a soaring descant, capitulating on an ascending scale to a high F. The text foreshadows the message of the advent season (Lord, quickly come… with all thine angels) while the harmonic and musical drama with the descant paint the text and foreshadow the musical jubilation of Christmas. As an anthem, this setting is quick for a choir of any size to learn, while as a concertato it allows the music director, organist, or even pianist the flexibility to greatly enhance congregational song.

Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1192227 Composed by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer. Arranged by Paul W. Allen. Historic,Instructional,Standards. Octavo. 5 pages. Allen/Myer Musicals #791696. Published by Allen/Myer Musicals (A0.1192227). The movie Star Spangled Rhythm featured many standard swing hits including this upbeat tune.  In the movie, it was a love duet sung very quickly between Mary Martin and Dick Powers, followed by an even lively African-American quartet trying to get the couple out of the bar and to their rooms so the place can be closed for the night.  In the intervening time, the tune has been re-established as a lullaby at a much slower tempo, which this arrangement replicates.  Here it is cast for a full 6-octave handbell choir, with or without voice, and has among other distinctions the unresolved closing chords.  This is a sure hit for ringers and audiences.  You may purchase 1 copy of this vocal arrangement for the price listed.

Choral Choir (Unison) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1194981 By Celine Dion. By Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. Arranged by Paul W. Allen. Blues,Historic,Instructional,Jazz,Standards. Octavo. 3 pages. Allen/Myer Musicals #794161. Published by Allen/Myer Musicals (A0.1194981). This sultry song from Orchestra Wives is best known through the lyrical smoothness of the voice of Etta James. The arrangement before you, using nearly the maximum number of handchimes in the upper register, should be performed with great freedom, befitting the words. This arrangement may also accompany a singer. Challenging the bass ringers to provide smoothness, these tones may be best rendered using the RiverBells Wedges (construction of which is available at riverbells.org. The price below allows you purchase of one (1) copy of the voice part.
