Unison chorus - Digital Download

SKU: C7.CGA118

Composed by Jane M Marshall. General. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 12 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA118. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA118).

UPC: 749193018163.

The cover of this anthem has the entire text of Wm. Byrd's 'Reasons to learn to sing' from which composer Jane Marshall selected the anthem words. Matching the text to four different moods of the ancient modes (or scales) she comes up with tone colors seldom experienced in today's church anthems. The Dorian mode of the 1st section has a similar feeling to natural minor scale. The Lydian mode, of the 2nd section, is very bright, like a major scale with a raised 4th degree. The Phrygian mode, section 3, is very somber, like a natural minor scale with lowered 2nd degree. The 4th section, 'Since singing is so good a thing', uses the most contemporary of the scales, the Mixolydian. It is a major scale with a lowered 7th degree, and this is characteristic of much of our present rock and folk music.

SKU: C7.CGA217

Composed by Ronald E Anderson. Spiritual. With SATB. Sacred Anthem. Octavo. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGA217. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGA217).

UPC: 749193004098.

This 'spirited' spiritual was arranged by Dr. Anderson for a choir dedication service in which all choirs, primary through adult, formed a mass choir. The simplicity of the tune and the repetitiveness of the text makes the work easily learnable for children. The children may sing the tune throughout while the SATB sections for youth and/or adults provide contrast. The work also may be performed with different choirs singing the various stanzas, or performed by one choir with solos or small groups taking various sections. This piece must be sung with joy and verve! Ronald Anderson is Director of Choral Activities at Stephen F. Austin University in Nacagdoches, Texas, and is also Minister of Music at the First United Methodist Church in Nacagdoches. Composer: Spiritual Arranger: Anderson, Ronald E.

SKU: A0.915827

Composed by Renee Allsbrook. Children,Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Octavo. 27 pages. Renee Allsbrook Music #4795863. Published by Renee Allsbrook Music (A0.915827).

Looking for the perfect song for your Christmas Eve service? As music director and pianist at my church, I was too! So one year I decided to write this one. Perhaps the ideal way to present this song is with a soloist who is joined by a choir of adults (or children!) singing in unison on the second and third choruses--emulating a choir of angels. When used this way, this song provides an easy way to stretch your rehearsal time at the Christmas season, as the choir can easily participate, yet there is no learning of extra parts. Brimming with worship of the Christ Child from the very first lyric, Heaven's Here to Stay begins by quietly evoking the atmosphere of the stable. When the chorus arrives, the jubilant singing of the angels arrives as well: Glory in the highest, for the Peace of heaven comes to earth! Glory in the highest--Hope itself was born in Jesus's birth. For Death is dying, Fear is cowering, Light is chasing Night away. The burning love of heaven's here to stay. The second verse takes us from the manger scene to the hills of Judea, where we hear Jesus's words: Come, you weary ones to me, I will give you rest. Trade your tattered rags for my robes of purest white. Come, you hungry, eat, be satisfied. You're all need, but I'm all giving; be still and just receive.  The PDF contains parts in this order: 1.Voice/Piano full score in C   2.Violin part in C    3.Lead Sheet in C    4.Lead Sheet in D   5.Violin part in D   6.Piano/Violin/Voice full score in C.

This partner song expresses from a child's point of view a commitment to trust in God. Phrases such as when I'm falling and when I'm lost speak of real-life concerns that children experience. The text goes on to assure us of God's trustworthiness by affirming God's love, care, and provision for everyone. A gently syncopated melody based on sequential patterns is easy to learn and fun to sing. The lightly floating counter-melody provides additional interest and an opportunity to enjoy part singing.
