However, even though this is one of Mozart’s best known and best loved melodies, more than thirty years passed after his death before it was first published in 1827. This version is arranged as a duet for two Violins. In fact it's such a strong symbol of Ukrainian national identity, that the Soviets didn't allow it to be played. So Oksana proudly learned the bandura only after she moved to the USA. She invited me to her home, and into the Ukrainian diaspora, where we played many of these tunes on bandura and violin. Here's my arrangement of Little Polka for two violins.
