The work, in 7 minutes, explores the evolution of repetitive cellular ideas using various meters, lengths of cells and musical atmospheres. There are simple passages as well as virtuosic ones and the energy level of the piece remains at a highly intensive level throughout the entire seven minutes.

The set includes six sonatas for the recorder and six for the transverse flute. These sonatas are characterized by their expressive and virtuosic chamber music, combining Italian and French traits, and were strongly influenced by the violin sonatas of Corelli. They are considered significant contributions to the Baroque chamber music repertoire, showcasing Loeillet's compositional skill and stylistic influences. Loeillet spent most of his life in France serving the archbishop of Lyon, Paul-François de Neufville de Villeroy.

Although I am today a cellist (and guitarist), my first instrument was violin, then recorder, and I started cello at the age of 9. I still play every now and then violin, in particular i find improvising on the violin easier then on any other instrument!
