Derek Hasted writes This charming piano piece fits really nicely onto flute and guitar making a concert item that is accessible to intermediate players. Itā€™s rather fun too!
The lovely chord sequences and the need for controlled articulation make this a delightful piece for any intermediate duo.

I have added a few dynamics (but feel free to change them if you wish), and some suggested fingerings for the guitar part.

Iā€™ve pitched the music (pardon the pun) in the original piano key - G minor - but Iā€™ve set the guitar part Capo 3, which makes gives the guitarist some really comfortable and familiar shapes based around E minor, and makes the bass notes particularly rounded and satisfying.

Derek Hasted writes This charming piece has become incredibly well-known in the UK as the theme tune to the TV series of the same name - one of the UKā€™s longest running comedies.

The music elegantly captures the calm of country life and the simplicity of times gone by, and makes for a refreshing and accessible concert item whether you know the original music or not.

The guitar part is all in first position with just a few straightforward barrĆ© chords that are comfortable and easy to reach. The rather scary-looking Gb major chord at the end is enharmonically correct - itā€™s based on a flattened second to the final key of F. But guitarists will probably prefer to think of it as F# major, which is a familiar chord in guitar repertoire, and thereā€™s no need for a barrĆ© for this one either!

This music is set in the key of the original TV soundtrack.

Derek Hasted writes This delightful melody features in the film Mary Poppins, where its beauty, simplicity and elegance really make this humble piece shine out.

My arrangement for flute and guitar includes all the verses and the instrumental break, wrapped up in an accessible arrangement that feels comfortable for both players. The guitar part is intermediate, the flute part is very slightly easier.

I have included some fingering for the guitar part so that itā€™s clear which positions are used, and there are skeleton dynamics that reflect the different textures in the accompaniment. Please feel free to add more to make the performance yours.

Derek Hasted writes This song burst back into my consciousness when it was played as a Viennese Waltz in the BBC TV program ā€œStrictly Come Dancingā€.

The ponderous, downbeat, original became light, inspiring, uplifting and very beautiful.

Hereā€™s the version that was on TV - the same key as the original but slightly shorter.

The flute takes the tune, the guitar (with the bottom string tuned to D) takes the accompaniment.

Itā€™s ideal for an inexperienced duo - the tune, believe it or not, only uses 5 different notes!

The use of 6=D tuning for the guitar dramatically reduces the number of barrƩ chords and makes the guitar part much easier on the left hand.
