Derek Hasted writes This song burst back into my consciousness when it was played as a Viennese Waltz in the BBC TV program āStrictly Come Dancingā.
The ponderous, downbeat, original became light, inspiring, uplifting and very beautiful.
Hereās the version that was on TV - the same key as the original but slightly shorter.
The flute takes the tune, the guitar (with the bottom string tuned to D) takes the accompaniment.
Itās ideal for an inexperienced duo - the tune, believe it or not, only uses 5 different notes!
The use of 6=D tuning for the guitar dramatically reduces the number of barrƩ chords and makes the guitar part much easier on the left hand.
