I’ve taken the theme from the closing soundtrack version, where the melody is clear and powerful. My arrangement includes one or two little bits of Mark Knopfler’s quasi-improvised variations on the tune. There are no dynamics, but the changing texture of the accompaniment creates the illusion of dynamic changes and you are welcome to add phrasing and dynamics to make the performance “yours�.The guitar part is a little challenging at speed but this will suit confident intermediate players.This enjoyable concert item has a wonderfully captivating melody that the audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Both will be familiar to many guitarists as they have featured over the years in a number of Graded Examinations.The Flute countermelody is a new addition, which I wrote so that the piece slotted seamlessly into the background music I played with my flute partner at a friend’s wedding.The Tanz is often mistakenly translated as Dance of the Washerwoman, and it’s also known as Wascha Mesa. The Hupfauf is a companion piece, set in a different rhythm but with ostensibly the same harmonic structure (apart from the Tanz’s Coda which is absent from the Hupfauf).Each dance has two beats in the bar, and the two dances can flow into each other or can be played with a short break. When they run into each other, it makes sense to maintain the two-beat pulse, but if this makes the Hupfauf stressful to play, one can maintain instead the value of the half note (minim), so that the Hupfauf proceeds at a more modest pace.The flute part is in the lower register in Tanz, and in the upper register in Hupfauf to add contrast to the pieces. Feel free to add dynamics, a little more articulation and, for the guitar, possibly some tone color changes, as the phrases repeat.

DO THAT TO ME ONE MORE TIME - FLUTE and GUITAR DUETFor Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar.Derek Hasted writes This fantastic melody deserves more fame than it gets, though when it first came out it was Captain and Tennille’s second No 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.My arrangement captures the three verses that feature in this piece, and also the instrumental break (originally on the lyricon), which has most of the ornamentation, except for the big bends that the lyricon can do electronically. This arrangement is set in the same keys as the original, and modulates from C to G (for the instrumental) and then to D.The accompaniment fits nicely on guitar, and it’s ideal for an intermediate duo. The guitar seldom comes out of first position and uses familiar chord shapes. The flute part has a top G, but it can easily be replaced by another top E if the G is not rock solid. By the same token, some of the repeated notes can be replaced by a sustained note if you feel that makes for a more relaxed articulation.This is one of those pieces that a concert audience will be humming all the way home...I hope you enjoy playing this piece!

At the time of publishing this arrangement, there seems to be only a single piano version of the original piece for sale which comprises just a snippet of the original.I have other arrangements of Basque - one for guitar and oboe (in a different key to suit the instrument better), one for two guitars, and a third version for three guitars (or large ensemble) that includes a countermelody based on the orchestral accompaniment to Galway's flute.All the versions are particularly straightforward and accessible, and I hope will bring this gorgeous melody to the ears of even more people.I hope you enjoy playing this piece!
