This folk tune dates to before the 17th Century. It first appeared in print in 1668 in a book of twelve Provençal noels by Nicolas Saboly. Jeannette and Isabella are two women who find the baby and his mother in a Provençal stable.This arrangement by McIntire is for a string trio, two violins and cello at an intermediate level.
