Rated advanced mainly for a number of tricky interlocking rhythms throughout (and some high notes in the violin parts). Smile Like You Mean It is a song by American rock band The Killers. It was co-written by their lead vocalist and their bassist in 2003. They claim that the song was written in just 8 minutes. (?!) Several years ago, this song was the special request of a potential groom who was throwing a surprise birthday party for his girlfriend - with the intent of proposing to her during the party. He had hired our String Trio to provide the background music for the celebration, and specifically wanted to propse to her during the playing of this song. Hesitantly, I agreed to write an arrangement  of this song for String Trio - and much to my surprise and delight, the translation worked out rather well.  ...And she said, Yes!.
