In keeping with the characteristics of the Romantic period my arrangement is full of contrasts and constant shifts between dynamics, articulations, tempos, and themes. Each part is of equal importance and each part independently adds to the stunning polyphonic weaving. Requires careful counting and close attention to rhythms, but sounds quite advanced and dramatic when all details are observed. Veins of melancholy flow through the entire piece, as if lamenting something that has long past. Faint scents of joy occasionally appear, yet are immediately swallowed by swells of deep nostalgia and regret. It is not until the very final chord do we see some hope; a light at the end of the tunnel, at the end of it all. No note in the entire movement is difficult to play, yet a convincing performance requires more than accurate fingerwork, but rather a heart capable of resonance with the human condition.I have not included any fingerings, tempo or expressive markings on the sheet music. Interpretation is left up to the players (or instructor), as Bach does in most of his works.

The players must make sure that this sudden development is conveyed decisively, and that the ending is powerful and majestic.This piece is not technically demanding, but the tuba and violin parts cover wide ranges on their respective instruments, and as such advanced level is recommended.
