My Heart Will Go On is the theme song from the 1997 film Titanic. It was initially composed by James Horner as an instrumental motif for the film soundtrack before lyrics were added by lyricist Will Jennings and before Celine Dion was enlisted to record vocals that would become her signature song. This String Trio arrangement begins with cello on the melody line. The cello passes it on to the 2nd violin, who then passes it to the 1st violin. Each statement of the theme is hauntingly beautiful, no matter what octave it is being played in. After the music reaches a climax in the middle, the simple opening theme comes back softer - and softer yet again - until it fades away, accompanied by ethereal harmonics in the cello part.

It is the instrumental soundtrack that is played while the main character skates in her first competition after becoming blind due to a skating accident. Love Me Like You Do was recorded by Ellie Goulding in 2015 specifically for the soundtrack of the film Fifty Shades of Grey. It has been described as an electropop power ballad and became Goulding's most successful single.  This String Trio arrangement is obviously minus the massive synthesizers and crashing drums of the original soundtrack, but the song does translate well to the small ensemble. It gives the melody an innocent, intimate and vulnerable feel - quite like the mood of the original story line - and unpeels some of those shades of grey.
