Forest Tall Trees Andante is a contemporary classical music which is soft and sweet as well as broad. The andante has two repetitive parts in a good way; the second part is longer and going to a broad conclusion. Each part begins quite melodiously from forte to soft piano and continues with broad gestures rhythmically. The music has a lot of broad developments; the music remains harmonious and soft. The loudness often goes from soft to a moderately loud music. Although the beginning of the first part starts with a moderately loud music, at the end it a couple of times suddenly changes from soft piano to a moderately loud music. In contrast, the second part begins with a moderately loud music and immediately changes to soft piano; the same happens in the middle of the second part after which there begins a very good preparation for the concluding notes which are broad. Moreover, although having more soft music, the second part of the andante has also a moderately loud music which prepares for broad concluding notes. Duration: approx 3:15 Medb’s Meditation was written for Kailani Farivar, an advanced, young violinist student, and first performed in August 2020 as part of the Cleveland Composers Guild’s Creativity: Learning through Experience program. Medb (often anglicized as “Maeve�) is the Irish Connaught warrior queen who features in a group of legends from ancient Irish literature called the Ulster cycle. This piece is intended to represent a reflective moment for the legendary Irish queen and begins calmly. The serenity is disrupted in the violin as the piece progresses against a piano accompaniment that remains deliberately steady. The more the violinist can exaggerate the increasing freneticism the better. Joseph Hollings (ASCAP) is a composer, arranger and music educator, and has taught music to students of all levels for over twenty five years. His arrangements have been performed internationally, including in London's West End, and have been recorded by the Onyx Brass Quintet and members of the Cleveland Orchestra. He studied composition with Harrison Birtwistle at King's College London, worked for the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, and established Really Nearly Records with the ever-imaginative Tim Ten Yen. Kreisler wrote a number of pieces for the violin, including solos for encores, such as Liebesleid and Liebesfreud. Some of Kreisler's compositions were pastiches ostensibly in the style of other composers. They were originally ascribed to earlier composers, such as Gaetano Pugnani, Giuseppe Tartini and Antonio Vivaldi, and then, in 1935, Kreisler revealed that it was he who wrote the pieces. When critics complained, Kreisler replied that they had already deemed the compositions worthy: The name changes, the value remains, he said. He also wrote operettas, including Apple Blossoms in 1919[8] and Sissy [de] in 1932, a string quartet, and cadenzas, including ones for Brahms's Violin Concerto, Paganini's D major Violin Concerto, and Beethoven's Violin Concerto. His cadenzas for the Beethoven concerto are the ones most often played by violinists today.

He wrote the music for the 1936 movie The King Steps Out directed by Josef von Sternberg, based on the early years of Empress Elisabeth of Austria.

Kreisler performed and recorded his own version of the first movement of Paganini's D major Violin Concerto. The movement is rescored and in some places reharmonised, and the orchestral introduction is completely rewritten in some places. The overall effect is of a late-nineteenth-century work.

Kreisler owned several antique violins made by luthiers Antonio Stradivari, Pietro Guarneri, Giuseppe Guarneri, and Carlo Bergonzi, most of which eventually came to bear his name. He also owned a Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume violin of 1860, which he often used as his second violin, and which he often loaned to the young prodigy Josef Hassid. In 1952 he donated his Giuseppe Guarneri to the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. where it remains in use for performances given in the library.

On recordings, Kreisler's style resembles that of his younger contemporary Mischa Elman, with a tendency toward expansive tempi, a continuous and varied vibrato, expressive phrasing, and a melodic approach to passage-work. Kreisler makes considerable use of portamento and rubato. The two violinists' approaches are less similar in big works of the standard repertoire, such as Felix Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, than in smaller pieces.

A trip to a Kreisler concert is recounted in Siegfried Sassoon's 1928 autobiographical novel Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man.

The Australian manufacturer of electronics and consumer goods Kriesler (later a subsidiary of Philips) supposedly took its name after Fritz Kreisler but had intentionally misspelled the name as to avoid possible juristical actions from other parties.

This is because he wanted to portray a poignant emotional event from a poem. The poem was Walter Scott's The Lady of the Lake. Consequently, this song became an integral part of Schubert's Song cycle. Therefore the cycle is called: the Lady of the Lake. In the poem, Ellen Douglas is the Lady of the Lake. The lake is probably Loch Katrine in the Scottish Highlands. First of all, Ellen goes with her father to stay in the Goblin's cave. They go because he earlier refused to join in a rebellion against King James. Roderick Dhu, the chief of the rebellious Alpine Clan, marches up the mountain with his army. But before the battle, he, first of all, hears Ellen singing. She is singing a prayer calling for help from the Virgin Mary. Schubert's piece was first performed at the castle of Countess Sophie Weissenwolff in Steyregg, Austria.  Schubert dedicated the arrangement to her, and as a result, she became famous as the lady of the lake.The incipit of Ellen's song is Ave Maria which is Latin for Hail Mary. It seems like this similarity led Schubert to adapt the melody to accommodate the Roman Catholic prayer Ave Maria. Consequently, the Latin version of Ave Maria finally became more famous than the original so that consequently many believe he wrote the Latin version first.

Schubert

Franz Schubert (1797–1828) was, in fact, a famous Austrian composer. Moreover, he composed during the late Classical and early Romantic periods. Schubert was comparatively prolific. He wrote more than 600 secular vocal works, seven symphonies, and, correspondingly, a massive amount of piano and chamber music. Critics agree, as a matter of fact, that his most famous works include his Piano Quintet in A major, D. 667 (also known as the Trout Quintet), the Symphony No. 8 in B minor, D. 759 (Unfinished Symphony), the last sonatas for piano (D. 958–960), and the song cycles Die schöne Müllerin (D. 795) and Winterreise (D. 911).

Education

Schubert was furthermore a musical child prodigy. He studied violin with his father as well as piano with his older brother. In addition, when Schubert was eleven he studied at Stadtkonvikt school, where he became familiar with the orchestral music of Haydn, Mozart, and likewise Beethoven. In due time he left school and returned home where he studied to become an educator; nevertheless, he continued studying composition with Antonio Salieri.

Performance

Eventually, Schubert was admitted to the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde as a performer. This appointment straightaway established his name in Vienna as a composer and pianist. Finally, he gave his only composition recital in 1828. He died suddenly a few months later probably due to typhoid fever.

Legacy

Schubert’s music was by and large underappreciated while he was alive. There were all in all only a few enthusiasts in Vienna. After he died, however, interest in his work in fact increased. Felix Mendelssohn, Robert Schumann, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms and other famous composers in due time discovered his compositions. Nowadays, historians rank Schubert expressly among the greatest composers of the era, and his music remains in general very popular.

ALL SLEEPING ON THE HILL

 

While  it  flowing words and pictures

All are sleeping on the hill

They are so many, so beautiful and pale

They are waiting on the hill

Princesses  looking  frail

That pose  themselves  unnecessary questions

They are  died and  now are  free

but  they wonder why

 

If I Had  been more yielding, if I had  been a little 'more docile

He is always  so unstable, maybe it was my fault

If I Had known take him, and learned not to respond

If I always said yes, I would be alive and still there

 

They are women of all nationalities

And girls   who never bloom

While  the seasons and the years pass

Their face is ageless

 

And they are mothers, daughters or lovers

Prostitutes,  holy or wives

No heaven or hell

They are waiting for you

Tonight the sky is brighter

They will be shining

Shooting stars now that you do not have a sky

Tell me where you flee

Mendelssohn's Op. 32, The Fair Melusina Overture is a concert overture inspired by the legend of Melusine, a water sprite who marries a mortal under certain conditions. The overture is not a literal retelling of the story but rather a reflection of its themes and moods. Mendelssohn held this work in high regard, characterized by its dreamy and fluid musical landscape, reflecting the happiness and unhappiness of the two main characters. The piece was initially received politely, but Mendelssohn subsequently revised it, and it remains the least familiar of his series of concert overtures. The overture is known for its harmonic power and is sometimes rendered in English as The Fair Melusine.

The legend of the fair Melusina is a tale of a water sprite who marries a mortal man under the condition that he must never see her on a Saturday. However, he eventually breaks his promise, leading to the tragic fate of Melusina. She is often depicted as a mermaid, a serpent from the waist down, or a dragon, and her story is associated with themes of love, trust, and the consequences of betrayal. This arrangement adapted for violin and piano was written keeping the characteristics of the original work, in order to be performed by young music students who want to enter the symphonic music. Besides, it can also be used by professional musicians for recitals, repertoire, academic presentations and didactic material. The transcription remains faithful to the structure, with only one change in tone, so that it is comfortable for all the instruments in the formation, as well as being used as an activity in ensemble practice among musicians of different traditions.

Beethoven's Turkish March (Op. 113) is the 4th movement of the operatic work: The Ruins of Athens, a set of incidental pieces written in 1812 by Ludwig van Beethoven, where the melody was originally written in 1809 as Theme with Six Variations for Piano, Op. 76. The work was written to accompany the play of the same name by August von Kotzebue, for the dedication of a new theater in Pest. Perhaps the best known part of the composition is the Marcia alla turca, In Latin America, this movement became known in Jean-Jacques Perrey's version (who titled it The Elephant never Forgets) since it was used as the opening theme of the successful Mexican TV comedy El Chavo del Ocho. The opening and the turkish march are often performed separately, and the other pieces in this set are not often heard.

Théodore Dubois was a French composer and organist who was well-known in the Paris music scene, due to his position as a professor of harmony at the Paris Conservatoire.  Most of his works were religious ones.  He had hoped for a successful opera career, but that unfortunately did not happen.

Agnus Dei was originally a vocal duet with piano, which translates well as an instrumental duet.  I extended the piece to include some key changes to add interest.  Otherwise, the piece remains mostly as the composer wrote it.

This arrangement is suitable for musicians with intermediate music skills.
