Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596371 Composed by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend. Arranged by Kristin Campbell. Celtic,Christmas,Contemporary,Irish,Sacred. 10 pages. Horsehair Music #3859705. Published by Horsehair Music (A0.596371). Looking for a upbeat and lively violin solo for Christmas? Here is a violin solo with piano accompaniment that would fit for both a church service or a Christmas recital. The opening has the piano playing soft clanging chords to imitate distant bells while the violin has the opening melody. The arrangement then moves the theme into a rhythmically  and joyfully syncopated pattern for the piano and violin to pass between them. The third stanza will explore the melody in a minor key with seventh, ninth and eleventh chords in the accompaniment. The final stanza brings the melody with quadruple stops using open strings and some double stops. The accompaniment fills in with big chords imitating joyful church bells.

Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534738 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century,Concert,Standards,World. 19 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #6606487. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534738). In January 1913, Debussy struggled to complete Toomai des éléphants as the 11th prelude in Book 2, finally replacing it by a rather Stravinskian study Les Tierces alternées. However, his daughter Chouchou was fascinated by elephants and in the summer of 1913, Debussy wrote her a ‘Toybox Ballet’ (La Boîte à joujoux) which contains a ‘Pas de l’éléphant’ and an ‘old Hindu chant which is still used to train elephants [in India]. It is constructed on the scale of “5 o’clock in the morningâ€, which means it must be in 5/4 time.’ My reconstruction of this lost prelude is based around this material and it evokes a day in the life of Toomai, the young mahout, and his faithful elephant Kala Nag from one dawn to the next, incorporating the legendary ‘Elephants’ Dance’ from Rudyard Kipling’s First Jungle Book (1894) which only Toomai was ever privileged to witness. The version presented here is the revised second version of this prelude which contains an effect of piano harmonics as the dawn returns towards the end.

Piano,Violin - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1303428 Composed by Gabriel Faure. Arranged by Harry Walker. 19th Century,Contest,Festival,Romantic Period. 8 pages. SCORE EDITIONS #893001. Published by SCORE EDITIONS (A0.1303428). This mélodie is the first in a set of three songs, opus 7, which also comprises Hymne and Barcarolle respectively. All three were composed between 1870 and 1877, then collected and published in 1878 under the title Trois Mélodies. Not originally conceived as a song cycle, these three songs acquired this opus number much later, in the 1890s. The poem for Après un rêve was loosely adapted from an anonymous Italian text by Romain Bussine. It describes, in the form of a dream, the imaginary flight of two lovers who are head over heels in love, although the last verse brings the dreamer inexorably back to harsh reality as dawn is breaking. In this version, the composition was arranged for Violin and Piano by Harry Walker.

Instrumental Solo,Piano,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.862516 Composed by Michael Bomier. Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Score and individual part. 5 pages. Michael Butkus-Bomier #2032635. Published by Michael Butkus-Bomier (A0.862516). Contemporary music MUST use elements that are either different in substance or in context from the Old Common Practise: otherwise, the music is not contemporary. Yet, Earth, Air, Fire and Water, these elements have not changed since the dawn of, well, Everything! So, our Suite for Violin and Piano is named after these unchanging aspects of our world, while using musical elements and contexts that are NOT from the past. Asymmetrical or odd-numbered phrases, major 7th, tritones, and half-steps instead of diatonic scales, wide melodic intervals, pointillisms, non-tonal harmony in the accompaniments, etc. This first movement is Adagio, slow and solid. The audio clip, along with the score, will show you more than can be described in words. Playable, listenable, accessible, and yet novel. Contemporary music that retains just enough of an older sound and feeling is the best way to get players and audiences to perform and listen to what it has to offer. Each selection in the suite runs just over 2 mins. They are all posted here as individual titles, and can certainly be played as such. Audio clips of each movement are available through this method. The entire 4-movement suite is advantageously priced. parts and a score for each. MBB.
