Garth Williams has combined an original new melody which is then merged with the lovely, lilting melody Love Divine All Love's Excelling, to the tune Hyfrydol, written between 1811 and 1887 by Rowland Hugh Pritchard.  The arrangement contains not only an additional tune but also a descant presented in the violin.  This tune can be found in most hymnaries of the Christian faith.
