Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by James Guthrie, ASCAP. Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 77 pages. Jmsgu3 #5336993. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.551688).

Mendelssohn's Op. 32, The Fair Melusina Overture is a concert overture inspired by the legend of Melusine, a water sprite who marries a mortal under certain conditions. The overture is not a literal retelling of the story but rather a reflection of its themes and moods. Mendelssohn held this work in high regard, characterized by its dreamy and fluid musical landscape, reflecting the happiness and unhappiness of the two main characters. The piece was initially received politely, but Mendelssohn subsequently revised it, and it remains the least familiar of his series of concert overtures. The overture is known for its harmonic power and is sometimes rendered in English as The Fair Melusine.

The legend of the fair Melusina is a tale of a water sprite who marries a mortal man under the condition that he must never see her on a Saturday. However, he eventually breaks his promise, leading to the tragic fate of Melusina. She is often depicted as a mermaid, a serpent from the waist down, or a dragon, and her story is associated with themes of love, trust, and the consequences of betrayal. The legend has inspired various literary and musical works, including Felix Mendelssohn's The Fair Melusina Overture, which reflects the themes and moods of the story. The tale has been revisited and revised over the centuries and continues to captivate audiences with its tragic and romantic elements.

Composed by Robert Daniel. Broadway,Classical,Film/TV,Musical/Show. 25 pages. RDMusicStudios #854759. Published by RDMusicStudios (A0.1261681).

On April 19, 2019, I started writing my first composition, His Memory, on my first album, Show Your Pride. The Show Your Pride album was influenced by my best friend, Nigel Shelby, who tragically passed away by suicide after experiencing bullying for being outed as gay. It has been a few years since his death turned a national spotlight on the issue of LGBTQIA+ mental health and bullying. He was 15 years old at the time of his passing. I feel like I've been stabbed in the heart when I found he was gone. It was the first time I had lost anybody that I was close to. I was in a lot of pain at the time. Losing my best friend is one of the most difficult and heartbreaking experiences I have had in my life. This album is telling a coming-out story about a bisexual musician going on a self-discovery journey to find his true authentic self.

I first met Nigel in mid-2018 when I was nervous, struggling with depression, and coming out as bisexual, so I gathered enough strength and confidence to come out to him. He's very kind and supportive of me. He was brave enough to come out to me as well. He has been a really good friend and my spirit guide as long as I've known him. He was understanding, thoughtful, and had a maturity about him that I admired. I feel happy and honored to have known him and had the best friends with him. I truly believe he is watching over me every day.

In this inspirational, heartbreaking piece, His Memory, I will share a coming-out story about two boys who came out to each other, spending their friendship together until one of them passes away. This piece is based on a true story of how I coped with grief, dealing with depression about my best friend's passing, and how I found happiness within myself after his memorial service. It drew inspiration from many compositions and soundtracks, including Where The Sky Has No Stars by Katahj Copley, Lose You Now by Lindsey Stirling (feat. Mako), You Will Be Found from Dear Evan Hansen by Benj Pasek & Justin Paul, April Sky by Lin Chin Cheng, and Avatar The Last Airbender by Jeremy Zuckerman. These compositions I mentioned express hope and spark memories of lost loved ones. This piece is in 3 Acts: Friendship, I Lost You. and His Memory Lives On. Each one was inspired by actual events.

Act I: Friendship
Act II: I Lost You
Act III: His Memory Lives On

While you are listening to this piece, I want you to think about someone you love who is no longer with you. If you're one of those people who lost someone special to you, I am so sorry for your loss. Just know that you are not alone. Don't try to run and hide from your grief. Whatever your grief experience, it's important to be patient with yourself and allow the process to naturally unfold. You will grieve for as long as you need to, but you are a strong person and will find your way through this. Life is so precious. Cherish every moment with your loved ones.

Coming out is one of the most difficult things a person can do, but if you are having difficulty or are unsure about it, just know that there are people out there who do love you for who you are. Learn to embrace your authentic self. Don't let your sexual orientation define who you are. The right people will accept you and those are the only people who matter. Be yourself, be happy, and do what you feel. Don't care so much about what others think and enjoy your life! Keep following your heart and don't be afraid to stand out!

Composed by Robert Schumann. Arranged by Emil Kross and Fritz Meyer. This edition: Sheet music. Edition Schott - Single Edition. Copyright 2009 Schott Music GmbH & Co. KG, Mainz. Downloadable. Op. 124/16. Schott Music - Digital #Q3900. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q3900).

He gave a present to me and my little Marie of a delightful lullaby composed that Christmas afternoon, Clara Schumann noted in the family diary they shared. This Slumer Song of 1841 Robert Schumann later included as No. 16 in his collection of Albumblätter (Album Leaves) Op. 124. The collection of twenty miniatures for piano was written over a fairly long period of time: the first piedes were written in 1832/33 and the composer started work on the last piece, the Canon, in 1845. In 1853 Schumann had the idea of brining together barious individual pieces that didn't fit in anywhere else in a collection of Albumblätter that was published in December of the same year. It is a bright bouquet of poetic little piano pieces of moderate technical difficulty: there can be no comparsion with grand works such as his G minor piano sonata of Carnaval. These musical aphorisms were not intended for the concert hall, though, but for domestic music making: this is chamber music in the true sense of the term. After unpleasant wrangling that even involved going to court to obtain permission to marry Clara Wieck, there followed a time of intense productivity for Robert Schumann: 1840 was his year of songs and 1841 his year of symphonies. Their marriage, which eventually took place against the wishes of Schumann's father-in-law, and the birth of their first child on 1 September 1841 contributed much to his personal happiness. It was for Marie that the hyppy father now composed this Slumber Song, which has enjoyed great popularity ever since: a simple and tender lullaby, written by the father as a surprise ´gift. This lullgy lends itself very well to being performed on a melodic instrument with piano accompaniment, as in thes edition for violin.

Composed by Frederic Chopin. Arranged by Raymond Fenech. Christmas,Classical,Easter,Holiday,Instructional,Love. 9 pages. Raymond Fenech #4610043. Published by Raymond Fenech (A0.760523).

Waltz in A minor, often designated as No. 19, is a waltz for solo piano composed by Frédéric Chopin. The waltz was written sometime between 1843 and 1848, but was not published until 1860, after the composer's death. The piece shows great sadness, while enclosing some episodes that hint at happiness and hope. The first theme of the piece uses a simple but effective melody, conveying a sad portrait, with decorative ornaments used throughout. The second theme is more interesting and lively, although it still has a certain sadness. About halfway through the piece, there is a modulation into A major, featuring a happy and joyful melody. The piece concludes with the main theme, followed by a short coda.

The Level is Intermediate/Advanced Intermediate and the duration is approximately 2.01 minutes. It could be played in any type of recital/concert.

‘Passacaglia for Violin and Piano’ revolves around a chromatically descending bass ostinato (the lament bass), which offers many variational possibilities. Written in the Romantic style, the piece passes through brooding melancholy, rapid spirited passages and tender Chopinesque interweaving melodies, constantly propelled by its unyielding harmonic structure towards an exhilarating finale. It also achieves these effects by employing the violin’s large palette of techniques and tone colours, including pizzicato, spiccato, the warm sul G tone, rolled 4-string arpeggiations, double stops, contrasts in dynamics and ornamental flourishes.

Bonjour!  You will feel like being on the streets of Paris with this new setting of the familiar Easter hymn.  Set as a French waltz, the violin first performs the melody antithetically in a declamatory sense before joining the leisurely and simplistic meter established by the piano accompaniment.  Through it all, this arrangement has an easy-going feeling that will bring a care-free happiness to you and your audience and embrace the joie de vivre.  Au revoir!
