Holy, Holy, Holy! is a Christian hymn written by Reginald Heber (1783–1826). It describes the Holy Trinity and was written for use on Trinity Sunday. In 1861, John Dykes wrote the tune Nicaea for this hymn which is a tribute to the First Council of Nicaea which initiated the doctrine of the Trinity in 325. It is also the lyrics to the Sanctus of the Latin Mass, which translates as Holy, Holy, Holy! Lord God of Hosts. The text may be found in the scriptures in Isaiah 6:3 and Revelation 4:1–11.
