Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by David McKeown. Classical,Concert,Romantic Period,Standards,Wedding. 9 pages. David McKeown #4403672. Published by David McKeown (A0.587614).

Felix Mendelssohn’s Wedding March was originally written in 1842 as incidental music to Shakespeare’s famousplay, Midsummer Night’s Dream. When Queen Victoria’s daughter used the music for her marriage in 1858, it became instantly popular and has remained a wedding favourite ever since.

This version is arranged for Solo Violin and Piano and the performance time is around three and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and interchangeable. Repeats may also be ignored. Both the full length youtube performance and the short audio sample are from the Clarinet version off this arrangement.

The solo part is intermediate level, while the piano accompaniment suits an advanced intermediate playerBoth will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both parts enjoying melodic interest.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with building dynamic range and stamina.

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Han-Ki Kim. Chamber,Classical,Instructional,Standards,Traditional. Score and part. 36 pages. Han-Ki Kim #808823. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.1211127).

“Korean Simple Suite†for flute and piano, No. 3 <Happy Wedding> Opus 273

It consists of 5 movements in total, and all movements mainly used the traditional 5 notes of “Do.Re.Mi.So.Ra†as far as the melody is concerned. I described the wedding ceremony of the bride and groom held in the traditional Korean front yard and the surrounding scene. The original music for violin and piano was written and dedicated for the composer's own teacher, the prof. Walter Verdehr.

1st mov. : The Front Yard: In G minor in 8/12 time, it is a short movement with a bright atmosphere. The Korean’s front yard is a friendly place for villagers' gatherings and events.
2nd mov. : Yeonzi – Gonzi: In G major in 4/4 time, natural harmonics are used to express the mysterious oriental atmosphere. The meaning of “Yeonji Gonji†is the red dot on the cheeks and forehead of the bride in a Korean traditional wedding ceremony.
3rd mov. : Joyful Dance: 3/4 time B flat major, composed in ABA form, expressed the joy of dancing in Korea.
4th mov. : Longing: In G minor in 6/4 time, tried to express the feeling of oriental waiting.
5th mov. : The Bride and Groom : It is composed of 4/4 time and 6/4 time, and as the title of the title of Groom and Bride, it shows the contrasting character of lively and calm. It was composed in a rondo form that goes back and forth between D minor and F major.
Attached music file is only 5th movement, it's just for a reference.

SKU: A0.587658

Composed by Henry Purcell. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 5 pages. David McKeown #4728551. Published by David McKeown (A0.587658).

The Trumpet Tune and Air was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on the trumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was attributed to Henry Purcell. But more recently many have questioned whether the composer was in fact Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. What is known is that the piece was written for a semi-opera called The Island Princess, and that both men contributed music to the production. In recent years this piece has become a popular wedding favourite.

This full version is arranged as a solo for Violin and Piano and the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. There are of course separate piano and instrumental parts included in downloaded the file.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamic contrast.

Composed by Jeremiah Clarke. Arranged by David McKeown. Baroque,Concert,Instructional,Standards,Wedding. 7 pages. David McKeown #4367470. Published by David McKeown (A0.587600).

The Prince of Denmark’s March is better known nowadays as the Trumpet Voluntary and is often used in wedding ceremoniesIt was in fact written for organ, with the melody played on thetrumpet stop.  Written around 1700, for many years this piece was mistakenly attributed to Henry Purcell. Only recently has it been established that the composer was Jeremiah Clarke, organist at St Paul’s Cathedral. It is somewhat ironic that this composer of a wedding mainstay was himself a victim of unrequited love. He consequently shot himself in the cathedral graveyard.

This full version is arranged as a Solo for Violin and Piano; the performance time is around two and a half minutes. Of course, performers, especially at weddings, may wish to abridge and shorten the arrangement. This is easily done as the different sections are self-contained and the repeat may be ignored.

The single pdf file contains both the score and the solo instrumental part. Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances, with both the solo and accompaniment enjoying melodic interest.

Teachers will enjoy using this arrangement as a fun way to help with strict time, full tone and dynamics.

The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.

SKU: A0.587572

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by David McKeown. Classical,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 8 pages. David McKeown #4361595. Published by David McKeown (A0.587572).

Fur Elise is the popular name given to Bagatelle no.25 written by  Ludwig van Beethoven. The piece was never published in Beethoven's lifetime and only came to light forty years after his death. Despite much debate, no-one has been able to establish who the Elise of the dedication actually was.

This arrangement transcribes the piano score as a Solo for Violin with Piano accompaniment. There are five pages of piano accompaniment and a separate two page solo part included.

Soloists at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The rhythms are straightforward, and there is plenty of scope for expressive, lyrical playing with subtle tempo changes. The piano part is suitable for an intermediate player, easy for the most part, but with two short faster passages. The overall performance time is around three minutes.

Composed by Nan-Pa Hong. Arranged by Han-Ki Kim. Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Instructional,Romantic Period. 23 pages. Han-Ki Kim #727884. Published by Han-Ki Kim (A0.1127250).

Korean Lament This music, “Korean Lament†composed by “Nanpa Hongâ€(1898-1942), has historical significance as the first violin piece to be composed in Korea using Western usage. It was composed around 1924, published by the “Yeonakhae†in 1926, and recorded as a record in 1936, becoming the epitome of Korean violin music. It was first performed by “Nan-pa Hong†himself in 1932, and appeared as an important piece at each of his concerts. At that time, in an era of oppression during the Japanese colonial period, the title of “Korean Lament†contains a symbolic meaning of patriotism. It is in the form of two parts, that is, AB, with the first half in 4/4 time and the second half in 6/8 time. Since the composer was a violinist himself, his performance and technical ability were of great interest to the social atmosphere of the time. The original piece is a short music for violin and piano, but it was reborn as a work that added Han-Ki Kim’s musical language for a concert at the “Yonsei 100th Anniversary Memorial Hall†to commemorate “Nan-pa Hong†on December 26-27, 2022.

SKU: A0.587691

Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by David McKeown. Children,Concert,Instructional,Romantic Period,Standards. 9 pages. David McKeown #4737769. Published by David McKeown (A0.587691).

Swan Lake, is the first ballet of three composed by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. Here, the famous main theme is arranged for Solo Violin and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet in Moscow in 1877 was not well received. The production was fraught with disagreements between choreographer and composer; the Russian audience were suspicious of the story’s Germanic origins and the music was regarded as too complex for ballet. Tchaikovsky did not live to see a triumphant revival production in 1895 that confirmed Swan Lake as one of the greatest ballet scores of all.

Included in the single download are six pages of piano score and a separate two-page part for the solo instrument. The short sample here and the full length version on the youtube link are from the Clarinet version of this arrangement.

Musicians at an intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts, with tremolos and rich chords. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around two and a half minutes.
