They have been arranged for various instrumental combinations each of which are available on this site: clarinet, flute, oboe, violin, viola or cello with piano and ... clarinet, flute, oboe, violin, viola or cello with guitar In each case the sound sample is an electronic preview of the first song. This is one of the most well-known of all British folksongs and refers to real historical events. It has been used in film and television programs and known to almost everyone in Britain. Skye (also known as “The Isle of Skye”) is the largest island of the Inner Hebrides. With an area of about 640 square miles, the island is about sixty miles long and lies close to the Scottish mainland.  

 The boat in the song (“Speed bonny boat”) refers to a small sailing ship that in 1746 “carried the lad who was born to be king” to the Isle of Skye. The lad in question was Prince Charles Edward Stuart known affectionately as “Bonnie Prince Charlie.” The song also refers to the Battle of Culloden of April 1746, the last ever battle on British soil, fought between the British Army and the army of Bonnie Prince Charlie.  

 In June 1746 and disguised as a maid-servant, Charles was secretly transported from the Hebridean island of Benbecula to the more southerly Isle of Skye. This is the event to which the song refers. 

 The Skye Boat Song has its roots in a traditional Gaelic melody. In this arrangement for violin and piano, much of the piece is playable in first position and uses the lower register.

阮若打開心內的門窗，這首經典台語歌曲由作曲家呂泉生，邀請文學家王昶雄作詞，於1958年創作，當時的台灣除了經歷過慘痛的二二八事件，同時也壟罩在國民黨的白色恐怖高壓統治下，作曲家希望能在音樂當中表達除懷舊，讓曲風有濃厚的台灣本土民謠風，且在歌詞上能給人們帶來希望。雖然這首歌一度被國民黨政府禁止，但仍被許多台語歌手演唱過，著名的如江蕙、大小百合、洪榮宏、鳳飛飛等等，此外，在蔡英文總統的就職典禮上，也被選用作為演出的歌曲。

我將本曲改編成小提琴與鋼琴的版本，難度上相當於英國皇家檢定考級的五級。

If I open the Door of my Heart, this classic Taiwanese song was composed by composer Lü Chuan-sheng, with lyrics by Wang Chang-Hsiong. It was created in 1958, a time when Taiwan not only experienced the tragic 228 Incident but was also enveloped in the high-pressure rule of the Kuomintang's White Terror. The composer hoped to express nostalgia through music, infusing the melody with a strong Taiwanese folk style, and providing hope through the lyrics. Although this song was once banned by the Kuomintang government, it has still been sung by many Taiwanese singers, including famous ones like Chiang Hui, Hong Ronghong, and Feng Feifei. Furthermore, it was selected as one of the performance songs at President Tsai Ing-wen's inauguration ceremony.

I have arranged this piece for violin and piano, with a difficulty level equivalent to Grade 5 of the ABRSM.

「阮若心の扉を開ければ」というこの古典的な台湾の歌は、作曲家の呂泉生が作曲し、文学者の王昶雄が作詞し、1958年に制作されました。当時の台湾は、悲惨な228事件を経験したばかりでなく、国民党の白色テロの高圧支配下にありました。作曲家は、音楽を通じてノスタルジアを表現し、メロディに台湾の民謡の要素を取り入れ、歌詞に希望を与えたかったのです。この曲はかつて国民党政府によって禁止されましたが、それでも多くの台湾の歌手によって歌われてきました。江蕙、大小百合、洪榮宏、鳳飛飛などがその例です。さらに、蔡英文大統領の就任式では、演奏曲として選ばれました。

私はこの曲をヴァイオリンとピアノのためにアレンジし、難易度は英国王立音楽院の試験のGrade 5に相当します。.

The purpose of the Violin Friends music books is to inspire students and their friends to practice and perform music together with happy, pedagogical and fun music. 

11 Children’s Songs arr. for piano quintet gives students the chance to play rhythmical variations of well-known melodies. The parts for strings are written in the first position except for the Poor Little Teddy where the cello line introduces playing in positions. The music can be performed with a string orchestra and piano soloists or with a traditional piano quintet. The part for 3rd violin can be used if there are no violas available.
