LISTENABILITY I have performed thousands of weddings and special events. I make it a goal for the music to carry as well as possible through loud and large space situations.

This composition was also titled Grand Fantasia and was written for organ. It actually has three movements: Adagio, Allegro and Lento. I like to call this series of arrangements – just the notes. Why? Because that’s exactly what you get. As a performer/conductor I longed for the day when I no longer needed to write over someone’s bowings, interpretations and fingerings. Adagio Cantabile  is composed for Intermediate groups on a medium difficult level.  At the start there is a beautiful viola solo accompanied by a cello counter melody.  Eventually all the strings enter the composition for a full robust sound.  Comes complete with full score and parts. Requested by Gary Woolf for the Banda di Musica, this piece is a slightly simplified arrangement of my Septet’s slow 4th movement. The cello solo remains the same apart from the harmonics, which have been transferred as ordinary high notes to a solo violin. This will make the piece much more approachable for younger players.

There are two Arrangements; 

School Arrangement –  Violins 1, 2 and 3 and Cellos 1 and 2. 

The cello solo is played by the lead cellist and is written on the Cello 1 part.

Standard Arrangement – Violins 1 and 2, Viola, Cello and Double Bass. Again, the cello solo is played by the lead cellist.

Mahler #3 - VI. Langsam begins quietly with strings alone. This arrangement captures the essence of the original because the string parts are almost note for note in the opening. Some full orchestra sections are added to the strings and other sections are carefully removed. What remains is a wonderful adagio that ends quietly (the opposite of the original for large orchestra). Optional timani part is included and adds depth to the arrangement.
