Dive into the world of Encanto with this string orchestra arrangement of Dos Oruguitas! The original key has been modified to D Major for a more approachable arrangement for young string players. Pizzicato and arco sections layer to create this beautiful melody throughout the orchestra. Violin parts have differing difficulties so you can include multiple levels of players in the ensemble. 2nd violin part remains in the 2-3 finger pattern the entire song, Viola part has a few high 3 C#'s throughout, and Cello has some extension work involved. Rhythms have been written in an expanded form (quarters and eighths rather than eighths and sixteenths) to allow greater ease of access for young musicians.

Hymn for string orchestra op.37c is an orchestration by Alexandros Halapsis from an original by the composer (“Aeschylus Hymn to One God� op.37), a 4-part vocal setting of a fragment from “Agamemnon�(“Oresteia�) by Aeschylus (V,160-166). Characterized by a chromatic melody and of remote progress harmony, the work attempts a tribute to the style of Gesualdo da Venosa. It was a commission by the Thomas Tamvakos Greek Composers Archive and it has been performed at the “Hellenic American Union� Theatre by the vocal ensemble “Philodos�, in 2007. Transcribed for flute, violin, and cello in 2021 as “Three for a Hymn� op. 37b.

Virus was composed during and about the 2020-2021 COVID epidemic. The main details of this piece are: 1. Each instrumentalist plays one and only one note throughout the entire piece. There are no expression markings – only dynamics. There are no special techniques. Each performer is “self-isolating�. 2. 48 instrumentalists – 24 violins, 10 violas, 8 cellos, 6 double basses. The entire ensemble covers four chromatic octaves. 3. Vibrato consistent across all instrumentalists. 4. No liberty with rhythm. Follow exactly as written. 5. This may be considered an etude – a study of volume. All instrumentalists should be consistent in their interpretation of each dynamic. pppp should be extremely quiet but still audible. 6. The change in volume for crescendos and decrescendos should be gradual – reaching end dynamic in a legato, smooth manner. 7. The visual of the dynamics in the full score – often depicts the program – like hieroglyphics. Or, in some cases, like the image of an organism viewed through a microscope. 8. Optional – performers may wear masks during performance. And, if space permits, have 6 feet social distancing between performers.
