String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1080559 Composed by Matt Arnett. Folk. Score and parts. 17 pages. Matt Arnett Music #684783. Published by Matt Arnett Music (A0.1080559). This is a fun, quick piece in an American Hoe-Down style. In the key of A major, it's a good piece for focusing on G# intonation, as well as cut time rhythms. There are some small fiddle-y ornaments and some exciting dynamic contrasts. Definitely listen to some folk/fiddle music together as part of your study! The piece also has a lot of repeats and a DC al Fine so lots of 'roadmap' music theory practice. Last, I had my students play double stops throughout this piece, but you could do divisi if that were more appropriate to your ensemble. I hope your students enjoy playing this piece as much as mine did.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1414027 Composed by Martin Lass. Chamber,Children,Classical,Instructional. 43 pages. MA Lass & I Lass #995794. Published by MA Lass & I Lass (A0.1414027). Martin Lass is an Australian violinist, composer, arranger, and teacher. He is most well known for his performance career as a classical crossover and popular music artist with 11 CD recordings, numerous awards and accolades, and performances with the likes of Luciano Pavorotti, Julio Iglesias, and Joan Baez. Before this, he was a founding member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, as well as playing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra. When he is not spending time with his wife of 46 years, his three middle-aged children, and his two grandchildren, he spends his time and energy teaching, writing, arranging, and performing.Five Australian Scenes for String Orchestra was conceived with specific iconic Australian places in mind, as well as with the intention to convey the experience of these places programmatically through the music. From this point of view, the pieces could have just as successfully been called Australian Days. As such, each piece represents a kind of day journey in microcosm, like a travel diary set to music. The points of interest in each day are indicated sequentially in the music. The pieces were written with the intermediate student string orchestra in mind. As such, they explore a wide variety of string techniques, dynamic and tonal contrasts, styles, and moods. Although the writing never takes a student out of first position barring a few cello passages, and the fingering avoids the use of cello forward extensions and minimises high 3s for the upper strings, the technical, rhythmic, ensemble, and intonational challenges put these pieces at the intermediate level. There are ossias and other alternatives for greater challenge or greater ease. Fingering has been offered where appropriate. And bowing has been meticulously indicated. This particular piece, “A Day at the Beach,†is set in Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast in QLD. On a perfect summer day, one heads for the beach where fun and games, swimming, surfing, sun-baking, a picnic, and more games are the order of the day before heading home, full of sand, sun, food, and tired satisfaction.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808194 Composed by Mark W. Huxhold. Instructional. Score and parts. 68 pages. Mark Wayne Music, LLC #3489363. Published by Mark Wayne Music, LLC (A0.808194). Developed by a String Specialist for the String Specialist by Mark W. Huxhold (Who's Who Among America's Teachers- 2000, 2005, 2006) I developed this method over a 20 year period as a school orchestra teacher faced with ever diminishing classroom instructional time. My goal was to preserve and articulate the scope and sequence of the curriculum in a concise and efficient manner. This method is intended to foster music reading skills from the beginning when used in conjunction with teacher initiated rote and modeling teaching techniques.  Book 2 continues in standard portrait format at 100% scale. Curriculum Scope & Sequence Prerequisite: Book 1 or 1st position (bass 1st & 3rd pos.) on A and D strings. D major, Common time. Eighth, quarter and half notes. Detáche and whole bowing.  Technique: Position:violin/viola-1st position (viola half pos.), cello- 1st and extended position, bass- half, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3 1/2 position. Bowing: Slurs, Richochet   Keys: G, C, F/d, Bb/g, Eb/c, A/f#, b, e, a Rhythm   Time signatures: 2/4, 3/4, 6/8   Notes/Rests: whole, eight, dotted half, sixteenth, dotted quarter & eight,  eighth & quarter triplets Concerning the Double BassMy experience as a classroom teacher and a bassist has convinced me that a beginning bassist develops best in a heterogeneous string class when playing the same contour as the other instruments. This is achieved by introducing the bassist to 3rd position when the other instruments learn C# and D on the A string. I do advocate marking 3rd position on the fingerboard. Another benefit is that the bassist is able to develop good tone production and intonation more easily on the higher 2 strings.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1432036 By Juan Maria Solare. By Juan Maria Solare. 20th Century,Classical,Contemporary,Historic,Instructional. 8 pages. Juan Maria Solare #1012516. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.1432036). Orchestraining is a cycle of orchestral studies, each focusing on different aspects of performance. These studies are specifically designed for non-professional orchestras, although any orchestra will improve by playing some of these pieces during rehearsals. It is always necessary to pay attention to intonation and many other aspects of orchestral performance. In addition, these studies are also useful for orchestral conducting students. For example, it is essential to know how to conduct a simultaneous attack of a chord that does not begin on the first beat, but a eighth note after the third beat.I began writing these studies around 2013, when I took over the direction of the Bremer Orchestergemeinschaft and noticed the complete absence of repertoire of this kind. As a pianist, I am accustomed to studies by Carl Czerny or playing scales. Each individual instrumentalist knows studies of technique for their instrument. However, there are no, or at least I am not aware of, similar studies for orchestral performance technique and the specific difficulties of ensemble playing that it requires. The cycle Orchestraining aims to fill this gap.The sixth etude focuses on the difficult subject of harmonics in the strings. In the classical repertorire, harmonics are not so present as other orchestral colors. There fore, it is particularly difficult to find repertory to train them.

String Orchestra - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1001583 Composed by Folk Songs, W.A. Mozart, F. Schubert. Arranged by Linda Jane Finegan. Children,Folk,Instructional,Multicultural,Standards,World. 24 pages. Linda J Finegan #6502371. Published by Linda J Finegan (A0.1001583). This is the first of a three-volume set of rounds arranged for string orchestra (Violin, Viola, Cello and Double Bass). The music is organized by levels of difficulty. Volume 1 is 14 rounds for first to third year players. Volumes 2 and 3 will be coming soon. Many of the tunes in the first collection are American, although melodies from Europe are also included. You will find nursery-rhyme rounds and gems from the great classical music composers. Written for two to four parts, my arrangements are for treble, alto and bass clef with a score included as well. You will find tips for better execution of the music, pedagogical ideas and information on the composers and compositions. Rounds are wonderful for improving intonation, ensemble and concentration. The genius of a round is that by staggering the entrances, a simple melody can be transformed into a concert piece that is polyphonic and harmonious.  Any two or more people of any age can enjoy making music together with a round.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1027816 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Sam Grabow. Romantic Period. Score and parts. 8 pages. Tara Music Studio #4802979. Published by Tara Music Studio (A0.1027816). A beautiful, lesser known piece by Tchaikovsky. This is a great piece to work on legato phrasing, voice leading, intonation, and orchestral balance. String are muted (except basses) and the melody isn't always where it should be. Some higher position work for violins and a short treble clef section for violas. The cello and bass lines are fairly simple. Intermediate violin and viola players might find t some of the position work tricky but could be a great quick sight readable addition to a concert for an advanced intermediate or advanced ensemble.

Vl 1, Vl 2, Va, Vc, Kb string orchestra - easy - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6628 Composed by Harald Genzmer. This edition: score. Concertino. Erstausgabe von leichten Stücken für die Arbeit mit Schul-, Jugend- und Liebhaberorchestern. Die Stücke können auch einzeln gespielt oder zu kleinen Suiten zusammengestellt werden. Downloadable, Score. Duration 24' 50. Schott Music - Digital #Q6628. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6628). Harald Genzmer has done a great deal for the promotion of young musical talent, and no doubt many a string instrument player can recall from their school orchestra days when his Sinfonietta was on the programme. But this highly prominent Hindemith pupil has written yet more of this educational music: all in all 3 sinfoniettas, in addition to collections of easy movements such as '14 Easy Pieces for String Orchestra' from 2002 which is also suitable for a Streicherschule. The individual movements involve specific styles and demands: cantabile playing, unusual and changing time signatures, bowing, pizzicato, intonation, scale playing, and so forth. The use of a double-bass is ad libitum. The pieces can be played separately or as little suites and are ideal for school and amateur orchestras; and regardless of it's educational nature, this music is lively and fun to play!
