SKU: A0.812107

Arranged by Laura Chegwidden. Folk,Holiday,World. Score and Parts. 10 pages. Laura Chegwidden #3534555. Published by Laura Chegwidden (A0.812107).

What do you do when you have an unusual ensemble? Arrange something specially for them! The Irish Washerwoman is a traditional Irish folk song which is so old that no one knows who wrote it. Its melody is familiar to many people because of its wide use over many many years. This arrangement is for an ensemble with an experienced viola and cello section, but a violin and double bass section that are still learning. This upbeat arrangement is perfect for beginning musicians to perform in school or even in competitions. If you would like an arrangement which places the more difficult lines in other parts please contact me using the links below.

The arrangement goes for approx. 2 min. This purchase includes a score and parts for all performers; violin, viola, cello and double bass. It would work best for players of a beginning intermediate level. It is set in the key of G major, which is perfect for stringed instruments.

Laura Chegwidden is a pianist, cellist, double bassist and singer from Toowoomba Australia. She recently graduated with distinction from the University of Newcastle with a B.MUS majoring in Cello and Composition. Londonderry Air is played as the anthem of Northern Ireland at the Commonwealth Games. Danny Boy is a popular set of lyrics to the tune.
God Save the King, the national and royal anthem of the United Kingdom, is played as the anthem of Northern Ireland at association football.
Ireland's Call is used by the Ireland rugby union team, Ireland rugby league team, Ireland cricket team and Ireland field hockey teams. All of these teams represent the entire island of Ireland.

Amhrán na bhFiann (The Soldier's Song), the national anthem of the Republic of Ireland, is used by some organisations operating on the island of Ireland, such as the Gaelic Athletic Association.

Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Gustav Holst, John Gibson. 20th Century,Celtic,Folk,Irish. Score and parts. 48 pages. JB Linear #4364530. Published by JB Linear (A0.582031).

Gustav Holst - Folksongs of Hampshire England .   In the early 1900's there was great interest in collecting and preserving the folk songs of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Equipped with their newly invented recording devices, people such as Cecil Sharp, Charles Stanford, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Gustav Holst would travel into the country-side to record, or notate songs being sung. They would frequently use these songs in their own compositions. Holst's music in particular is filled with those songs. This group of four songs was arranged for voice and piano by Holst and set for string orchestra by John Gibson. The songs are 1. Young Edwin in the Lowlands Low 2. Bedlam City 3. The Irish Girl 4. Young Reilly.
