It would work for quartet (2 violins, viola or violin 3, and cello), String Quintet with the inclusion of double bass, or string orchestra or ensemble. The included violin 3 part is primarily viola in treble clef, if a viola player is not available. The violin 1 part includes some third position work, and a simplified cello part is also included if the player finds the string crossings too difficult. This would suit intermediate level players and therefore suitable for school chamber groups and ensembles. I doubled the 2nd violin with the viola and the cello with the bass to accommodate possible incomplete instrumentation in younger ensembles. I also included three auxiliary percussion parts that are optional but will enhance the arrangement. I hope you and your students will enjoy rehearsing and performing my arrangement. Thank you.

They would frequently use these songs in their own compositions. Holst's music in particular is filled with those songs. This is a fun piece that I think young musicians will enjoy.  The percussion parts provide the train sounds. I envisioned this piece as sort of a story in which the train arrives at the station to pick up passengers and then makes stops along the way to pick up additional passengers, represented by the different sections of the orchestra.
