Composed by Anonymous. Arranged by Elin Korneliussen. Christmas,Concert,Holiday,Renaissance. Score and parts. 9 pages. Elin Korneliussen #3506873. Published by Elin Korneliussen (A0.774651).

«To Drive The Cold Winter Away», also known as «All Hail To The Days» or «In Praise Of Christmas». This Elizabethan carol is a praise of all the comfort there is to be had in the darkest time of the year:

«This time of the year is spent in good cheer,
And neighbours together do meet,
To sit by the fire, with friendly desire,
Each other in love do greet;
Old grudges forgot, are put in the pot,
All sorrows aside they lay,
The old and the young doth carol his song,
To drive the cold winter away.»

This general theme of midwinter comforts makes this piece a good choice for winter events such as school parties and New Year festivities as well as for Christmas concerts.

In this arrangement for string orchestra with piano, all the parts have significant and interesting roles to play. The difficulty level is fairly easy, although the players must of course be able to play in the D minor/F major key.

Parts: Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Cello, Contrabass, Piano.

Level: Easy/Early intermediate

Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Elin Korneliussen. Classical,Concert,Graduation. Score and parts. 11 pages. Elin Korneliussen #3512337. Published by Elin Korneliussen (A0.774654).

Komm, lieber Mai or Sehnsucht nach dem Frühlinge (K. 596) is one of a select number of songs written by famous composers which have become so popular that many people believe they are folk songs. Mozart wrote the song in 1791 to a poem by Christian Adolph Overbeck. He also used the melody in the very last piano concerto he wrote, no. 27 in B flat major (K. 595), composed at the same time.

For young string players, this is an accessible and joyful piece of music, celebrating springtime. A great choice for any recital or other occasion at this time of the year.

Parts: Violin I, Violin II, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Piano

Difficulty: Easy

SKU: A0.1365113

Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,Contemporary. 68 pages. Studio at the Post #879423. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1365113).

Parts only (see A879420 for Score). Duration: 18 - 19 min., 5 ensemble parts and 5 solo parts, average 9 pp each. Description: Triptych for String Orchestra sets up three contrasting musical tableaux in as many different genres. Though this approach is often called post-modern, the composer prefers to see it as an indulgence of the many types of music he enjoys. The work opens with a free form improvisatory movement whose sour romanticism comes from its rich chromatic palette. The second movement is in many ways the opposite of the first. It is a very tightly constrained serial work where the parameters of rhythm, inflection, and dynamics, not just pitch, get a full serial workout of permutations. The third and finale movement, then can be seen as a happy medium between the two extremes of the previous movements. It's in the form of an episodic Dionysian romp that alternates between expositions of an ever more shrill theme with puckish episodes of varied quasi-ad lib solos embedded in coloristic texture. There are three movements, Chroma - The Academy - Rock.
