This is a reaction on the part of the composer to the brash commercialization of Christmas. Christmas is first Christ, Jesus Christ, His humble Birth in a Manger, the quiet tenderness of his Mother Mary and his Father Joseph, the surroundings of people who were prominent in their day but utterly unknown now. It is a reaction to wanting to go back to the Silent Night, the Shepherds Watching the Sheep by Night, etc. The spirit is quiet reverence for Jesus. This is arranged for solo voice (or womens' choir), flute obligato, strings (string orchestra or string quartet), and harp or piano. In other words, this is intended to minister to the quiet nobility of the true spirit of Christmas, with love and blessings.

Scored for oboe, French horn, harp and strings, the harp part can also be played on piano if a harp is not available. Even though the musical example is a MIDI it was blessed by our Dear Lord in that this recording is, in the opinion of the composer, better than most MIDI renditions. In this world of uncertainty and turmoil this is meant to comfort the listener on its own, or be background to appropriate scripture reading and in general musically bless whomever hears this to get closer to the Lord and Savior and know that prayers are always answered, not necessarily in our time but in His time. I personally have been blessed and through this composition am trying to share my feelings of comfort and gratitude. This composition is not limited to Church orchestras per se, but to any group of musicians who love the Lord and want to share with all listeners the spirit of comfort and gratitude. Using songs that are sung before each of the three races---songs of Kentucky, Maryland, and New York---the orchestra takes on the role of the winning horse, with the accelerando being the final race to the finish line. Though timely now that the amazing horse, American Pharaoh, won the Triple Crown in June of 2015, this piece was written prior to that event to celebrate all the horses that compete. (6:30).
