As songwriter Paul Anka once philosophized, Memories are times that we borrow to spend when we get to tomorrow. In this piece, composer Ron Flintjer has fashioned a composition that requires no lyrics to be understood. Written in the key of D concert in lilting 3/4 time, Reminisce encourages one's mind to drift aback over the years. Initially, a major key signature signals the good times in life. Next, a change to a minor key recalls the not-so-good times. Finally, the piece resolves back to the original major key, signaling that while all lives will see a combination of good and bad, on the whole life is truly good. Reminisce is written for Middle School / Beginning Intermediate.

Jesus Loves Me is one of the most well known and beloved hymns in the Christian faith.  This is a hymn that we all learned at a very early age, perhaps in Sunday School, Bible School or Junior Church.  It has been with us since 1862.  The lyrics were originally written in 1860 as a poem by Anna B. Warner.  Then in 1862 the poem was put to music by William Bradbury.  This beautiful hymn has withstood the test of time like Amazing Grace, The Old Rugged Cross and so many more

This arrangement is written for String Orchestra and has three verses and choruses.  The first version closely follows the original harmonic structure without any deviations.  The second version utilizes a different harmonic sequence and includes some rhythmic changes in a few spots.  Finally,the third version again includes a different harmonic sequence, modulates to a different key and contains an extended ending.

This is a wonderful piece that can be played as special music for your church service, or offertory.

Here's a sure-fire staple for your future holiday concerts!  Universally well-loved and revered, Silent Night was composed over two centuries ago in Austria by Franz Xaver Gruber.  A gentle, reflective melody, it immortalizes the night of the birth of Christ, and is immediately recognizable the world over.  This arrangement for Elementary Easy Beginner String Orchstra features beautiful harmony, simple scales and bow markings.  Parts are 1st violin, 2nd violin and viola same part, cello and string bass same part.  All makes for a beautiful big sound.

treat - a lush, flowing arrangement for middle school orchestra with all the emotion and feeling of this famously wistful tune.  Written by Scott Robert Burns over two centuries ago, and still relevant, Auld Lang Syne looks back with longing, and sometimes regret, at our memories.  The unanticipated insertion of church bells toward the end adds just the right touch of melancholy.  Don't look for any dry eyes in your audience when this one concludes!
