String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1097865 Composed by John Francis Wade and John Reading. Arranged by Vitor Melo. Christian,Christmas,Classical,Holiday,Religious. Score and Parts. 7 pages. Melo Music #701809. Published by Melo Music (A0.1097865). O Come, All Ye Faithful (originally spelled in Latin as Adeste Fideles) is a famous Christmas song that has been attributed to various authors. This beautiful hymn was first published by John Francis Wade in his collection Cantus Diversi (1751), with four Latin verses, and music set in the traditional square notation used for medieval liturgical music. Besides John Francis Wade, the tune has been attributed to several musicians, from John Reading and his son, to Handel, and even the German composer Gluck. The Portuguese composer Marcos Portugal or King John IV of Portugal have also been credited. Thomas Arne, whom Wade knew, is another possible composer. This arrangement features an easy-to-play version for string orchestra (violin 1, violin 2, viola, viloncello, contrabass) Key: G Major.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1422058 Composed by Words: Henry Baker / Music Charles Parry. Arranged by Thomas Quigley. Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 19 pages. Thomas Quigley #1003399. Published by Thomas Quigley (A0.1422058). This wonderful hymn tune is elegantly arranged in a classical style, not unlike a minuet, with excellent part-writing striving to maintain ease of learning. The lines blend beautifully, with some divisi sections thickening the texture, whilst the harmonies are attractive, making it enjoyable to perform. It would perhaps suit a school or amateur ensemble, and is a fine aid to worship. Highly recommended, this carefully designed arrangement is an excellent, highly musical item to include in your sacred music collection.

The American Revolution. On the companion recording Liberty!, album notes author Thomas Fleming writes, ...something remarkable was taking shape in his imagination – sounds more extraordinary than he had ever experienced. On a trip to Key West, he visited Ernest Hemingway’s house. In the sundrenched garden, music leapt into O’Connor’s mind and in a breathtaking two hours, Surrender the Sword – and its orchestral outline – was on paper. It is unquestionably one of the most passionate orchestral pieces he has ever written. In the A part, the music is busy. You can imagine voices, perhaps in Congress, perhaps in a crowd in New York or Philadelphia, wondering what is going to happen next, as General George Washington is about to resign as commander-in-chief of the American army, O’Connor says. Then comes a long melodic arc, swelling with a triumphant confidence that depicts the great military leader extending his sword to surrender it forever. The music is suited for advanced and intermediate levels. Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.Music editing, copying and engraving by Mark O’Connorusing Finale on Apple Macintosh 1997 Composed by Mark O’ConnorCan be heard on Liberty!
