String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1499997 By Keith Terrett. By Oreste Sindici, 1887. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Instructional,Multicultural,Patriotic,Standards,Traditional,World. 13 pages. Keith Terrett #1076070. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1499997). The National Anthem of the Republic of Colombia (Spanish: Himno Nacional de la República de Colombia, pronounced [?imno nasjo?nal de la re?pu?lika ðe ko?lombja]) is the official name of the national anthem of Colombia. It was originally written as a poem in 1850 by future President Rafael Núñez as an ode to celebrate the independence of Cartagena. The music was composed by Italian-born opera musician Oreste Síndici, at the request of Bogotan[1] actor José Domingo Torres, during the presidency of Núñez, and with lyrics refined by Núñez himself, it was presented to the public for the first time on 11 November 1887. The song became very popular and was quickly adopted, albeit spontaneously, as the national anthem of Colombia. It was made official through Law 33 of 18 October 1920. Colombian musician José Rozo Contreras [es] reviewed the scores and prepared the transcriptions for symphonic band, which was adopted as an official version by decree 1963 of 4 July 1946. The anthem has been performed in various versions, been the subject of attempted reforms and been widely performed in the arts. The lyrics of the anthem are composed of a chorus and eleven stanzas, though it is usually sung chorus–first verse–chorus.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1271389 By Duke Ellington. By Duke Ellington/Barney Bigard. Arranged by Keith Terrett. Instructional,Jazz,Standards. 14 pages. Keith Terrett #863787. Published by Keith Terrett (A0.1271389). C Jam Blues is a jazz standard composed in 1942 by Duke Ellington and performed by countless other musicians, such as Dave Grusin, Django Reinhardt, Oscar Peterson, and Charles Mingus, arranged here for String Orchestra. As the title suggests, the piece follows a twelve-bar blues form in the key of C major. The tune is well known for being extremely easy to play, with the entire melody featuring only two notes: G and C.A performance typically features several improvised solos. The melody likely originated from the clarinetist Barney Bigard in 1941, but its origin is not perfectly clear. It was also known as Duke's Place, with lyrics added by Bill Katts, Bob Thiele and Ruth Roberts.Ellington's black and white film was produced in 1942. The video depicts a jam session where Ellington begins playing with a double bass before gradually being joined by other members of his band, among them drummer Sonny Greer and trumpeter Rex Stewart. The film title is Jam Session. Western Swing band leader Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys recorded the song sometime between 1945 and 1947 as part of the Tiffany Transcriptions. Bill Doggett recorded a version on his 1958 tribute album Salute to Duke Ellington (King). C Jam Blues was used by the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band as the basis of their song The Intro and the Outro. Mulgrew Miller and Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen included the song in their 1999 album The Duets. The Dave Brubeck Quartet performed this live at the 1958 Newport Jazz Festival; the recording appears in their album Newport 1958. YouTube Link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOlpcJhNyDI.

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.596599 Composed by Juan María Solare. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 13 pages. Juan Maria Solare #6020971. Published by Juan Maria Solare (A0.596599). Mercy is an obsessively expressive Adagio (so to say, an answer to Samuel Barber's Adagio) with a homophonic texture, like a four part chorale. Rhythmically, this piece offers no problems. While the part of the first violin requires more experienced players, all others are relatively easy to play. Most groups would be able to master this piece after only a couple of rehearsals.   Some would say that mercy is a virtue, others that it is a weakness. Do not seek in this piece a one-to-one musical transcription of merciful feelings, but rather concentrate on the smoothness and tender sound quality associated with it. Rather than pity, mercy is about empathy, togetherness and support - this attitude can also show while performing music.   Approximate duration: 3 minutes 15 seconds. Mercy was composed in 2013 and is dedicated to the flutist Cecilia Piehl Pierce.
