It is all bowed and is intended to move along at a pace of 112 beats per minute and runs about two minutes. All parts have some notes that should be played détaché . Although the carol was composed by Mykola Leontovych in the early 1900's, it is based on a four note ostinato taken from ancient Ukranian folk sources.
