String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.813844 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Concert,Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. Score and parts. 31 pages. Regis Bookshar #6537751. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813844). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (String Orchestra) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (23 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:    I am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:  I have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, he has created this version for a String Orchestra. Parts included with the purchase are a 1st Violin, a 2nd Violin, a 3rd Violin, a 1st Viola, a 2nd Viola, a 1st Violon.

String Orchestra - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.889429 Composed by Luis Anjos Teixeira. Christmas,Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Standards. Score and parts. 17 pages. Luis Anjos Teixeira #4727333. Published by Luis Anjos Teixeira (A0.889429). „Improvisation On Tchaikovsky`s Cherubic Hymn. It is an original Harp improvisation to be accompanied by an adaptation for strings inspired by Tchaikovsky`s choir piece „Cherubic Hymn. The harmonic structure of Tchaikowky`s original work has been faithfully reproduced, so all credits for this piece goes to him. Rather than an arrangement, the outcome of this adventurous experience resulted in an improvisation for the Harp. With the added melodies on the Harp and the stringed instrumental caracter of the orquestral adaptation, the piece gains a stronger tone contrast, keeping at the same time its deep spiritual beauty, thus bringing it to a wider range of public and performance choices. it is very easy to perform, yet it moves deeply both performer and public. The piece is appropriate for beginner students. It can be used in serious concerts and all kinds of cultural events. It is a very Spiritual piece, it induces a wonderful mood in Baptism or Christmas celebrations. One can get married to it. The piece is also appropriate to honor someone in a funeral. Although this score was composed in full intent to be performed as written, the Harp part can be played by itself and the orquestral arrangement from the Hymn can also be performed without the Harp. This score was conceived so that without adaptations, the Harp the orchestra and the original Choir could perform at the same time. Or intercalated „Ad Lieb, the Harp with the choir, or the orquestra with the choir. Instead of a full string orquestra one can also use just a string quartet and a doublebass. A Little Historical Note. „The Cherubic Hymn is part of the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom written in the fourth century by the Byzantine saint, honored as such by both Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches.  In the context of the liturgy, the hymn is sung during the most mystical and spiritual part of the service as a prelude to the transubstantiation of bread and wine into the real presence of Our Lord. Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the inspiring Master and genial composer with whom I had the happy causality to write this improvisation or „collab was born in; 25 April/7 May 1840 – 25 October/6 November 1893, was a Russian composer of the late Romantic period, he created an outstanding number of unique musical masterpieces. Tchaikovsky was honored in 1884, by Emperor Alexander III, and awarded a lifetime pension. Thanks to Claudia Eppelt for the all the Love the wonderful painting and cover design, this work is dedicated to her. Special Thanks to Tchaikovsky, Nina and Stray Queen Mimi, Carlinhos, Maria Pontinha, Maria Joaninha, Schwarzenegger, Maria Koboldinha. For all Living beings on Earth, for all our Ancestors, Thank You for all of You All Your Love and Compassion. Love Forever. String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.742492 Composed by George Frideric Handel. Arranged by Arte Nova Music Lab. Baroque,Concert,Standards,World. Score and parts. 57 pages. Arte Nova Music Lab #5041947. Published by Arte Nova Music Lab (A0.742492). Around the year 1726, John Walsh, a London music publisher, created a wonderful forgery in order to run around the copyright laws of the day: he pretended to pirate an edition supposedly published by the House of Roger in Amsterdam. This forgery included 12 Sonatas for solo instrument and continuo which had been composed by one George Frideric Handel (1685-1759). Around 1793 the House of Arnold published the same set, omitting two of the original 12 and replacing them with two others by Handel. So at this point there were a total of 14 solo sonatas available to the public. In the year 1879 Friedrich Chrysander issued these 14 works and several others in volume 27 of the German Handel Society’s Gesamtausgabe of Handel’s works. Since then they have been edited from this scholarly work many times, and afflicted by all sorts of permutations which reflect the various styles of performance in vogue over the years. One finds editions stripped of ornamentation but loaded with articulation and dynamic markings at one end of the spectrum, and editions with modest stenographic and florid ornamentation at the other. The Sonata in C Minor (London: 1712) is a pure example of the middle phase of the solo sonata da chiesa [church sonata]. The first three movements are indicative of the style found in sonatas derived from the disruptive canzona of the early 17th century. An initial slow movement with walking bass is followed by an imitative movement (in this case, a fugue with a chromatic subject), which in turn leads to an Adagio. This latter movement in the relative major is a ricercare containing several imitative entrances. The finale is a spirited binary-form Bourrée angloise, an item taken over from the French ordre or dance suite. The extraordinarily short length of this movement seems to indicate that a trio is missing here; therefore, I have added the bourrée from the Royal Fireworks Music of 1749 to act as a trio, but players are certainly free to omit it. Adding a series of variations based on the chord changes of the Bourrée angloise would be an alternative way to lend weight to this final movement.Taken from https://www.idrs.org/scores/Lehrer/DRArch/69HandelSonataCm.html

String Orchestra - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.886139 Composed by Jason McChristian. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 29 pages. Jason Gary McChristian #2937867. Published by Jason Gary McChristian (A0.886139). The Great Blue Heron was inspired by the relatively large, wading bird, commonly found in North and Central America. The name of this bird has always conjured in me an image of something of such immense size and, yet, unbelievable beauty and wonder. Something bsoth terrifying and awe-inspiring.         Musically speaking, this work is an arabesque, a short, single movement containing ornamentation. This term is also in art to describe works that contain two flowing, decorative motifs in the shape of S and U. In ballet, it is used to describe the shape and movement of a spiral. The gestures of this work follow the contour of these shapes and movements and embody the arabesque in all of these forms.

String Ensemble Cello,Double Bass,Viola,Violin - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1112894 Composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Chamber,Christian,Classical,Instructional,Religious. 44 pages. Regis Bookshar #714847. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1112894). Recordare (from Requiem (K. 626) - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Franz Xaver Sussmayr - String Orchestra - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. Hauntingly beautiful is how the Recordare from Mozart's Requiem is often described. Originally written for an orchestra and four vocal soloists, it has now been transcribed by Regis Bookshar for a String Orchestra, consisting of 3 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Violoncellos and 1 Double Bass, and would be a wonderful addition to any music library. This arrangement will provide students with the opportunity to play this beautiful composition, something which they may not have had the opportunity to do, otherwise. This selection could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services and is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this arrangement. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (44 pages). The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble has performed the Trumpet Quintet version of the Recordare for funerals, providing beautiful, introspective music for the occasion. There is some controversy surrounding the circumstances of the Requiem's composition because Mozart died before he could complete it. Count Franz von Walsegg had commissioned a Requiem Mass but Mozart had received only half of the payment in advance. So, upon his death on December 5th, 1791, his widow, Constanze, wished to have the work completed secretly by someone else and submit it to the count as having been completed by Mozart to collect the final payment. Joseph von Eybler was one of the first composers to be asked to complete the score and had worked on a number of movements but felt unable to complete the remainder and gave the manuscript back to Constanze Mozart. The task was then given to another composer, Franz Xaver Sussmayr. Sussmayr borrowed some of Eybler's work in making his completion, added his own orchestration to other movements and added several new movements which a Requiem Mass would normally comprise. He then added a final section by adapting the opening two movements which Mozart had written to the different words which finish the Requiem Mass, which according to both Sussmayr and Mozart's wife, was done according to Mozart's directions. The completed score, initially by Mozart but largely finished by Sussmayr, was then dispatched to Count Walsegg complete with a counterfeited signature of Mozart dated 1792. Despite the controversy over how much of the music is actually Mozart's, the commonly performed Sussmayr version has become widely accepted by the public, and is considered one of Mozart's finest compositions. The Recordare is considered by many people to be one of the most beautiful compositions in Mozart's entire catalogue. Regis Bookshar, a trumpet player, has performed the Requiem in concert with a full orchestra, soloists and a chorus and felt that other musicians should have the opportunity to play the hauntingly beautiful Recordare as well. So, in addition to this arrangement for a String Orchestra, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this beautiful composition. There are Quintets, Sextets, Septets and Octets readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may fine something else which may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as well, as there are numerous arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this beautiful arrangement of Mozart's Recordare, will continue to entertain both performers and audiences alike for years to come.

String Orchestra - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1087401 Composed by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Classical,Contest,Festival,Instructional,Multicultural,Romantic Period,World. Score and parts. 26 pages. Regis Bookshar #691621. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.1087401). Coronation March, TH 50, CW 47 by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. String Orchestra - Advanced/Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of Peter Tchaikovsky's Coronation March, sometimes called Festival March or Festival Coronation March, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and other festive occasions. This arrangement keeps all of the intensity and excitement of the original composition and is suitable for high school and college students. Professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (26 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available to the public for the first time. The Coronation March was ordered by the city of Moscow for the coronation of Tsar Alexander III in 1883. It was written during March of 1883 and was performed for the first time on June 4, 1883 in Sokolniky Park in Moscow, conducted by Sergei Taneyev. The music then included excerpts of the anthem, God Save the Tsar. The American premiere was on May 5, 1891, for the opening concert of Carnegie Hall in New York City, conducted by Tchaikovsky himself. During the Soviet Era, Russian performances and recordings of the music were revised to omit the excerpts from the Czarist national anthem, replacing it with thematic material used earlier in the march, due to an official Soviet ban on the anthem. Starting with Dmitri Medvedev's inauguration in 2008, an abbreviated version of this piece is played during the Russian presidential inauguration accompanying the entrance of the incoming president, and ends well before the playing in this piece of the Tsarist anthem God Save the Tsar. Unlike Tchaikovsky's other major compositions, the Coronation March does not have an opus number. It has been given alternative catalogue designations TH 50 and CW 47. Tchaikovsky's Coronation March was originally scored for a full orchestra and written in the key of D Major. Regis Bookshar has now created an abbreviated version, written in Db Major, and has arranged it for a String Orchestra, with parts for 3 Violins, 2 Violas, 2 Violoncellos and 1 Double Bass. In addition to this arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March for a String Orchestra, other arrangements of this festive composition for various instrumental ensembles are also available. Please feel free to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar as there are many more arrangements in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you as well, and please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. I'm certain that this wonderful arrangement of Tchaikovsky's Coronation March will continue to entertain both audiences and performers alike for years to come.

Composed by Ron Jones, who has scores many top Hollywood series such as Star Trek:TNG, Family Guy. Jones brings his film scoring talents to full force in this work. It woulf fit in with a program of film music as well as with say, The Planets. The difficulty range would be between a 4-5. Two harps add that wonderful touch, like in works by Ravel. Though mostly tonal, the center section uses a more atonal canvas, again like a typical space adventure soundtrack.
